Bio

A simple resident of South Genobia who's strong of body and even stronger of heart. Her fortitude is a luxury that allows her to put others before herself, but consistent selflessness may prove to be its own challenge.

WIP

Name Chloe Soto
Gender Female
Age 20's
Breed Shishi
Shishi and their male variants shisa are essentially living foo dogs. Large maned canines of great size, strength, and elegance. The shishi are the largest of the breed, with an average height of 3'10 ft at the shoulder and body lengths of around five and a half feet, excluding their tails. The shisa meanwhile have an average height of 3'8 ft, and body lengths of around five feet. Both have thick muscular bodies covered in short velvety fur, and curly voluminous manes growing from their heads and necks. This thicker, curly fur also grows from their otherwise stubby tails, giving them long elegant appearances. It can also grow from their backs and the underside of their legs, depending on the individual shishi/sa. Shishi and shisa also have dog-like snouts and ears, large protruding teeth, broad noses, pronounced brows, lion-like eyes, and huge paws with non-retractable claws. Shishi and shisa are best known in Raphtire for their natural beauty and power, but a lesser known trait they share is an instinctual urge to protect other anima. They're natural guardians. Though of course this instinct varies in intensity depending on the individual shishi/sa, with some finding no trouble in ignoring it.

Appearance
A typical 3'10 ft tall shishi with chocolate colored fur. Her base fur is beige with a splash of light brown speckles on her face, throat, and front legs. Her semi erect button ears are marked with horizontal stripes of a similar brown, and her back is marked with thinner, almost tiger-like dark brown stripes. She has a dark brown mane and tail, and darker brown fur growing from the back joints of her legs. Her eyes are indigo, and her nose a pale red. She has four protruding teeth, her front canines jutting out noticeably and the teeth behind them receding a little more, and her paws are equipped with massive claws. Accessory-wise, Chloe likes to adorn her mane and tail with beads of various colors.

Human Appearance
A Hispanic woman standing at 5'10 ft tall with broad, muscular shoulders. She has dark brown skin and her face and shoulders are dotted with freckles. Her eyes are indigo, and her dark brown hair is long and bushy.

About
Chloe is a Spanish speaking citizen of South Genobia, born and raised in one of the more urban cities before moving out to its rural outskirts later in life. Like most shishi, she's an exceptionally strong anima, with claws tough enough to crack concrete and a bite powerful enough to crunch bones. Thankfully, she is all too aware of her strength, and she not only makes a conscious effort not to abuse it against weaker anima, but also use it to help others. Chloe is stubbornly kind hearted. Behind her tough, stoic demeanor lies a persistent urge to do right by others and help them however she can. With her strength and size, there are many things she's capable of that certain other anima simply aren't, after all. Things that only she can do... so why not do them for others? At times she'll even refuse to resort to violence when another anima is deliberately provoking her, since being as strong and durable as she is gives her the liberty to stand her ground with little concern for her own well being. However, if she sees an anima being victimized who can't stand up for themselves the way she can, then may heaven help their assailant, for that's when Chloe's ferocity gets the better of her. She's not completely without her faults after all. She's prone to anger just like anyone, and even selfishness at times. And there was a time in her life where she couldn't be bothered to give a damn about anyone but herself.

History
Chloe was raised for the better part of her childhood by her single mother, a shishi who exemplified many of the ideals Chloe now believes in. She always preached to Chloe about the responsibility that came with being as strong as they were. Of course this meant little to Chloe at the time. She was just a girl who loved her mother, and for a long time it was only the two of them. Their lives went through a major change however when Chloe's mother fell pregnant with twin boys, and then even more unexpectedly fell in love with her own labor and delivery nurse, a jackalope and prior friend of hers. The two dated for a while and ended up marrying soon enough for Chloe's baby brothers to grow up seeing her as their second mother. To Chloe though, both her stepmother and little brothers were simply intruders on the life that she and her mother used to have. Their inclusion to the family brought about all manner of complications to their lives, the most significant of which were financial. By the time Chloe turned eighteen, money had become tight enough to start scaring her mother and stepmother into making some pretty radical decisions just to get by. One of them was for Chloe's mother to join the UWO military for its impressive financial benefits. She claimed it was a no brainer, that the military would relish having a strong shishi in its ranks. But all Chloe knew or cared about was that her mother was leaving her behind with three people Chloe didn't love or care about in the least. Despite many arguments between them about the decision, Chloe's mother ended up leaving on an extended service. And on that day, Chloe left home too.

She started getting into trouble, hanging out in the sketchier areas of the city and picking fights with anyone she could. It didn't matter who. Gang members, criminals of all sorts, and just anyone looking for trouble would find their fill with Chloe. She was angry, particularly at her mother and how her "selfless" belief in putting her strength to good use had taken her away from her daughter, the one person who'd always need her the most. Chloe was just as strong as her mother ever was, now. But she felt she didn't owe that strength to anyone but herself, and so she put it to use taking out her aggression on any asshole who got in her way, rather than helping anyone with it. After a while, Chloe became feared in the city's underbelly as a one-shishi gang not to be crossed. This ended up landing her a job as a bouncer at an underground gambling ring... and this in turn landed her in jail. After a couple nights behind bars, Chloe was bailed by her stepmother of all anima, and she returned home with her for the first time in nearly a year. What Chloe discovered back at home however came as a great shock. The place was a mess. Insurance complications had greatly reduced the money coming in from her mother's service in the military, and she was apparently on some confidential mission that made contacting her impossible. Chloe's stepmother had been forced to take up a second job, and yet still could barely afford to pay the bills, and the money she had spent to bail her out of jail had now put that in jeopardy. Most shockingly, Chloe's brothers had apparently been going out every night and getting into trouble, trying to "follow their big sister's example". Still, in spite of all this, her stepmother didn't blame her. She was simply glad to have her back home. Overcome by a fresh sense of guilt, Chloe decided to make it up to her, someway.

The following day, Chloe went out searching for her brothers, eventually finding them picking a fight with a particularly violent gang she had crossed paths with before. The very sight of her thankfully caused the gang to take off running, and Chloe dragged her brothers home to set them straight. She had never bothered to get close to her brothers before, so she never realized how much they truly looked up to her. Now wanting to set a better example, Chloe soon began looking for work, finding employment anywhere she could to help ease her family's financial woes. Her sketchy past made it difficult for her to score jobs and keep them when her employers found out, but she never desisted. She eventually found herself with steady employment at several small businesses that had a history of being hassled by gangs and extortionists who Chloe had had the pleasure of hospitalizing at one point or another. Seeing her working in these places was enough to make them finally leave them alone, and Chloe's employers gladly kept her around thanks to her unintentional protection. Life soon began to improve for Chloe and her family. Money constantly remained an issue, but not like it was before, and her brothers spent more time helping around the house than going out and causing trouble. Eventually Chloe's mother even returned home for a brief reprieve from duty, allowing Chloe the chance to make up with her. She had matured quite a bit and become a lot more like her mother in the years she had been gone, giving the two quite a lot to catch up on and bond over. And for a time, their family was happy.

Eventually Chloe's mother had to return to the army to finish her service, promising that once it was done she'd be home for good, but it wasn't long after this that she stopped calling home. Chloe's stepmother couldn't seem to get any support from the UWO in finding out what was going on, and became increasingly stressed as the months rolled by. Chloe, confidant enough in her mother to believe she well, did her best to support her stepmother and keep her reassured, but it was to little avail. Between her worrying and heavy workload, Chloe's stepmother soon fell ill. She ended up in the hospital for an extended stay with doctor after doctor being unable to diagnose what was wrong. Meanwhile, her hospital stay was racking up a huge bill that Chloe's income and her mother's still incoming military benefits just couldn't compensate for. By the time Chloe's stepmother was well enough to come home, they were in danger of losing their apartment. And she still wasn't well enough to get back to work so they could save it. It seemed their only option was to stay with someone else until Chloe's stepmother could fully recover and they could get back on their feet, and so she reluctantly urged Chloe to write to her own estranged parents, two jackalopes who owned farmland out in the countryside, and who Chloe's stepmother hadn't spoken to in years due to their close minded and and superstitious views. After explaining the situation to them through letters, Chloe soon found herself packing up and moving her family out into the all too unfamiliar countryside.

Chloe worries for what the future will bring. She worries for her stepmother's health and grows increasingly scared for the well being of her birth mother the longer she goes without hearing from her. But she remains ever stalwart in the face of these fears. Because she can be. Because she's stronger than most. She'll carry her loved ones where they need to go and shield them from any dangers that their uncertain future has in store for them, just as her mother would do if she were there. And if there's space yet in Chloe's heart for someone else, then she'd do the same for them.
