“Not into it. I’m not. Into. It.” Eddie vomited the words with a smug, tired smile on his face. Not that he didn’t care anymore, he just felt like by now, he shouldn’t care anymore.
He lighted up the homemade herbal cigarette with a very rust almost useless lighter. The silk paper started burning as he swallowed the thick smoke into his lungs.
“... at all” He whispered the words faintly, adding to his last sentence, it falling dead in the dark room, a thick white smoke following along, disappearing with the words.
He picked the card with his name written on it with a fillip pen.

“Edmond”Edmund, Edmundo, Eddie, Ed.... it didn’t matter to him really, His name rolled out of his mouth to legal papers, scribbles in coffee cups and invitations in many different ways, leaving the recipient to decide what was the correct spelling to that name. Not like it was a difficult name, but with so many spellings and being such a common name people didn’t question it. And he didn’t care either.

He cleared the ashes from the cigarette and got up. His body was thin, a white stained shirt hanging on his boney shoulders, a pair of dark jeans fitting his legs. He looked quite young for his age. A modern haircut making the blonde hair on top of head look like a golden nest, the bottom half of his head, from the ear down, bald with a buzz-cut. It felt weird at first, because it make his pointy ears stand out, and he wasn’t quite sure what to think of that, but turns out the haircut was very refreshing on such a hot gross summer day.

He looked out of the window hidden behind heavy, dark green curtains. The glass was covered in light dust. It wasn’t completely dirty, but it felt like the windows haven’t been wiped since spring cleaning.

It felt weird. Being by himself, after what? Three years? Or was it four? How old was he then? How old is he now again?
It surely felt weird. Never paying attention to the years passing by, with the company he had, the time flew by. He squinted his eyes as he sucked in the substance of the cigarette, making his eyes water a little. The smoke leaving his lungs through his mouth came with an empty feeling in his stomach. “I’m opening my yellow chakra, isn’t that right?” He shrugged, that’s what Imanni would say, probably.

“To a new beginning” The lady, with big beautiful eyes had said while handing him his room key and a card with his name on it. A card that gave him access to the bar, breakfast hall and the pool. When he first entered the bed and breakfast place, it totally felt like it was an abandoned place, so he didn’t expect such a nice lady with such a bright smile to be at the reception. She was tall, her figure was big but she still managed to look so welcoming, even with all the light scarfs and golden jewelry. She totally looked like the type of person that talks about soul searching, planets aligning, horoscope, stuff like that. Her makeup, glittery under the dark skin made her sparkle. The long, silvery wavy hair and the beautiful mauve smile were making Eddie feel welcome but somewhat uncomfortable. She didn’t look natural, like, human, you know? She looked like... A fairy, a goddess... An angel. He blinked back to the ordinary room, with dark wooden walls, a white sheet covering the double sized bed and his backpack on the floor. The lady at the reception, Imanni, surely seemed to have worked hard to make this while place look a lot more like a bed & breakfast and a lot less like… an empty old moldy motel.

It felt nice to have such a delightful encounter while being out alone for the first time in a long while. But still, he wasn’t sure where he was, or where to go. And as much as he convinced himself that he didn’t care, he felt quite alone and not ready to leave the room. It’s been a few hours and he just sat back on the bed. The room as nowhere as luxurious as he had been accustomed to, but it didn’t matter to him, didn’t make a difference, really.
A soft spoken voice accompanied to a knock to the room’s locked door caught his attention “Hey Mr Edmund, are you joining us for dinner time?”
He got up and cleared his throat, putting down his white cigarette on the ash tray next to the bed.
“ah, yeah yeah sure, thanks”
Summer was such a weird time for him, the sun was still out and the birds were still singing, but it was around 9pm.
Eddie was about to walk out of the room but the reflection of his own gold hair surprised him. Maybe going to a barber shop first thing on the way here wasn’t the most common thing but then again, he wasn’t that much of a common guy at all. He stared at himself for a couple seconds. Maybe he should change. But the growling noise inside him made his ribs and navel hurt. Dinner time, sure, yeah, he didn’t eat the whole day so yeah, a warm dinner, and maybe delaying this shower for after.

He walked out, the rooms on the corridor where a light cream color, the carpet was a dark red and it didn’t look fancy at all, with some crumbs and dust here and there. But he appreciated that they seemed to make the place as tidy as possible.
The dinner hall was lightened by yellow light, the room looked cream in the walls and the bold dark wood in the set of tables and chairs gave it dept. It wasn’t big or anything, but it did accommodate the catering area and the tables comfortably. He sat down somewhere by the window. The brightness of sundown was beautifully scary to him, golden rays ready to chase and cast a spotlight on everything hidden. Maybe Imanni was right, maybe it was a new beginning, maybe he was opening his chakras or maybe things would make more sense now that he took a huge step.

A pulling of chairs, plates, loud mix of voices and laughs, questions and answers filled the space as the sun made it’s way down behind the hills filled with green bright trees. A bright, rich place this was, and maybe it was a good start.
“You’re not eating anything dear?” The lady from reception walked by with a place filled with a lot of rice and maybe some type of vegetable stew.
“Oh yeah, I am, I got distracted” Edmund smiled and got up, walking towards the end of the line. He did feel a little embarrassed. Of course this place isn’t the type with menus and attendants and things like that.
After filling his place with a mix of black beans and green leafs he walked back to where he was sitting before.
Even though the room wasn’t crowded, and there were a lot of empty tables, he was surprised with somebody sitting at the table he claimed his.

Tall, broad shoulders and a big build, he almost looked like he could be a… dresser? For some reason that thought was the first thing to walk in Edmund’s mind, making him snort at himself.

But it caught the brunette’s attention, he turned his head up to look at Eddie, mid-chew.

Oh no

“I wasn’t making fun of you! Sorry. Is it ok if I sit down here?” Eddie muttered with an embarrassed smile, already pulling a chair.
