Too much love will kill you

In my mind Freddie Mercury was, and will always be, a legendary singer. I might not have appreciated Queen and Freddie’s music until I was in my 20s but since it happened I have never once looked back. I believe that Freddie had the best rock voice this world has ever seen. No one before or after him has ever come close to matching him. And there has certainly never been anyone to surpass him. His voice in combination with the music he did was pure perfection.

Just as sure as none at all

Now, the musical library of Freddie Mercury and Queen is quite vast and contains many gems so it’s not an easy task to pick out favorites among them. I do have soft spots for some of them though.
I have always loved Bohemian Rhapsody because it’s an absolutely bonkers song, but in a perfectly good way.
If you’re looking to feel pumped up you can never go wrong with listening to We Will Rock You. It’s perfect not only for sporting events but for any time you feel like you need motivation.
A song that feels like it comes completely out of the blue is Crazy Little Thing Called Love. It doesn’t sound like something you’d expect from them but that’s the thing about Queen and Freddie. They dared to be different and reinvent themselves so many times with their different songs. And that song always puts a smile on my face and it’s hard to stay still when it comes on.
Now, in today's world where political correctness is as big as it is this next one might rub people the wrong way. But I can’t help but love Fat Bottomed Girls. It’s another fun song that I always sing along to.
Killer Queen is another personal favorite along with You’re My Best Friend, We Are the Champions, Another One Bites the Dust, Under Pressure, Radio Ga Ga and Who Want to Live Forever. Those are all wonderful songs in their own right, along with the ones I mentioned previously.

It’ll drain the power that’s in you

I do have some songs by Freddie that I love more than those though. I Want to Break Free is definitely among those favorites, especially if you watch the music video. It’s very fitting to this day. Sad but true.
Somebody to Love is another gem that I love and is among my absolute favorite Queen hits. The same goes for A Kind of Magic. That song shares a spot with Somebody to Love for me among the top Queen songs.

Make you plead and scream and crawl

Second place on my top favorite songs with Freddie's beautiful and legendary vocals is definitely Don’t Stop Me Now. It’s such a wonderful song that always makes me smile and sing along. And it’s hard not to get happy and dance along with it. It’s just pure happiness.

And the pain will make you crazy

My absolute favorite song though is by far Too Much Love Will Kill You. It’s sad and beautifully tragic. And true. I can’t help but feel like it fits so perfectly with Freddie. It definitely doesn’t bring a smile to my face but I love it so much.

You’re the victim of your crime

The fact that Freddie didn’t feel comfortable letting people know of his illness because of the connotations that would accompany it, is the saddest part to me. Telling the world that he had aids would have literally meant that he would have placed a stigma on himself because of what people assumed it meant. It hurts deep in my soul to know that if the general public hadn’t been so ignorant back in the 80s and 90s Freddie might have lived for many more years...
But maybe it was never meant to be. Maybe the world could never have handled more of the legend that Freddie Mercury was and always will be. He will forever live in my heart, and in the hearts of all the people of the world that still love him and the music he blessed us with.

Your legend lives on, Freddie. You will never be forgotten ♥️

Too much love will kill you every time
