It seems like people will put an age limit on everything except being stupid.

Walt Disney once said, "You're dead if you aim only for kids. Adults are just kids grown up anyway.". What he meant was that you don't outgrow the things you loved as a child--you learn to appreciate them in a whole new light as an adult. Cartoons were never meant to be a medium for only kids to enjoy. Same with toys or books... You know who produces the most cartoons, stories, and merchandise? IT AIN'T KIDS.

There are certainly childish things we all must leave behind when we reach adulthood. There are things that must be learned, there are responsibilities to uphold, and there are reactions we can't allow ourselves to have... we cannot throw tantrums or neglect important business to play.

But that doesn't mean we cannot ever play.

I tried to be the adult everyone wanted me to be. It was miserable. It was probably the single worst mistake of my life, buying into the ridiculous expectations OTHER people placed on me instead of listening to myself. I hit burnout stage real fast. I was so stressed I got sick. And the worst part? It didn't help anyone. It didn't make them think more highly of me. If anything, it just made them more critical.

To heck with that!

If being childish means the stress relief of playing a game on occasion, collecting things that make me feel happy, and enjoying the stories other adults crafted for all ages to enjoy... then I am childish. People care more about acting 'grown up' than having actual depth and strength of character.

I think that's quite possibly the most childish thing you can do.

Never take advice from people who say you are too old to enjoy the simple things in life. Anybody who tries to steal your joy is your enemy. Your real friends will love you for the golden retriever puppy energy you exhibit, not seek to muzzle it.

Let nostalgia fill your heart and happiness flow through every vein of your body.

Release your inhibitions.
