To most people, HarmonyCharm seemed to be a normal angel kora. However, her parents soon discovered that she had the ability to telekinetically move gems. Every day HarmonyCharm would be playing with gems that had mysteriously appeared in her family home. As the angel kora grew up, her power increased. Her power became so great that anytime HarmonyCharm used her power, any kind of gem within a certain radius would instantly be attracted to her and fly away from its original location. HarmonyCharm and her parents soon had to deal with neighbors who honestly did not like their jewelry disappearing each day. Sometimes people wearing jewelry would suddenly be yanked away from whatever they were doing at the moment and be pulled toward HarmonyCharm, which led to some very embarrassing moments! Eventually, whenever gems went missing, people in the area would assume Harmony had gotten her hands on them, which naturally led to people disliking her. Some even began to view Harmony as a chronic thief! But the truth of the matter was that HarmonyCharm had no desire to steal any gem(even though she was very fond of them). Her power just affected any gem that was in range.

In addition to having the power to move gems, HarmonyCharm was studying magic. Unfortunately for the angel kora, her choice to study magic only compounded the distrust that others had concerning her. One day, HarmonyCharm was gathering various items for a spell. Unfortunately, a cherry lain and a common mahar recognized the angel kora was doing and began to heckle her.

“Hey!” yelled the mahar, “It’s the little gem thief!”

HarmonyCharm turned at this sudden outburst, her face bewildered.

“Yes, this pirate just wants all the jewelry here for her own greedy little paws!” added the lain.

Now feeling very hurt, HarmonyCharm spoke up. “I never wanted your jewelry,” HarmonyCharm pleaded, “my power just….”

“Yeah, we know! That’s why we call you a pirate, ‘cause you swipe the jewelry from us!” snarled the mahar.

“My name is HarmonyCharm!” yelled the angel kora, her anger now starting to rise.

“Humph,” snorted the lain, “pirates take gems from others, you take gems from others. What’s the difference?”

“And now look,” snapped the mahar, “ I bet you’re gathering ingredients for making some kind of potion. I bet it’s not beneath you to have the audacity to satisfy your twisted desire for gems via magic! Well, guess what. You’re not the only creature in Subeta who likes gems! A lot of people in this area alone are very fond of their jewelry!”

“Indeed we do. That’s why we don’t like people like you snatching it under our noses. ” the lain stated coldly.

HarmonyCharm felt like crying, for she never meant to harm anyone or cause trouble. HarmonyCharm knew all too well that any attempts to defend herself would simply escalate these creatures’ anger, so she gave up on gathering the herbs she needed for now and ran off.

A couple of hours later HarmonyCharm’s eyes were still filled with tears. She had not gone home, for one night she had overheard her parents arguing about her power. Long story short, her father was tired of HarmonyCharm’s power causing such trouble. The memory of that argument made HarmonyCharm realize that she would never be accepted unless she mastered her ability to control gems. The angel kora decided to leave home until her powers could be controlled. That night she packed her bags and left her hometown.

A couple of months later, HarmonyCharm noticed a crowd gathering in Peka Park and decided to take a look. She wasn’t alone either. The angel kora now had a small Radiant Crystallite she named Luminous accompanying her on her travels. The two creatures had met when HarmonyCharm used her powers to save Luminous from a monster. As the angel kora weaved through the crowd, she heard a booming voice.

“Be warned, Subeta! Darkness will cover this world for eternity for what you’ve done!”

HarmonyCharm was able to get close enough to see who was making such claims. The creature projecting its voice over the crowd was a middle-aged kora. Luminous, who HarmonyCharm was holding, made a light neigh as the kora continued her speech.

“This world has always bared its teeth at its inimitable ones! Repent and stay the darkness! Or run and hide from terror!” the kora solemnly warned. But the crowd was having none of it.

“Oh be quiet, little tentacles!” said one.

“Yeah, take your all-seeing appendages and put them to better use!” went another.

The crowd then started pelting the kora seer with various objects. HarmonyCharm, who had been mocked herself, felt empathy for her fellow kora, and leapt into action. She put Luminous down and began to chant an incantation. HarmonyCharm’s spell created a mist that clouded the crowd’s vision of the seer. That distraction allowed HarmonyCharm to grab the kora seer and flee.

The kora seer was grateful to have been rescued. HarmonyCharm and Luminous brought the kora to their home in an undeveloped part of Subeta. There HarmonyCharm tended to the kora and made some lunch for her. While the seer ate, HarmonyCharm asked the kora what her name was.

“My name is Forseeth,” answered the kora, “and I was born with the ability to see things that would have a negative impact on others. Recently, I have been having visions of a great disaster that will overtake all of Subeta.”

“Is this what you were talking to that crowd about?” asked HarmonyCharm.

Forseeth nodded and continued, “Over the years, there have been many sins committed by both humans and pets. Recently, two of them are taking more prominence. First, many people and creatures that didn’t fit people expectations have been wrongly persecuted. Those who are responsible for the persecution have not made amends. Not only do they continue to do so, they encourage others to do what they are doing. The second sin can simply be stated as a form of pride. In Subeta, both humans and pets are gravitating towards great wealth at the cost of others’ well being. These selfish creatures would rather decorate themselves with objects such as gems to enhance their physical appearance instead of showing kindness and sympathy toward others. Because of the large percentage of Subetans committing these two sins, the world of Subeta will become completely encased in darkness. In this darkness, the gems that people have labored to obtain will lose their glow and become useless. And if people continue to be selfish and unkind, they will be consumed by the darkness without warning, never to be seen on Subeta again.”

“Is there any way to prevent this from occurring?” asked HarmonyCharm.

“The prophecy could be averted completely if Subetans focused more on being kind to others instead of physical appearance and popularity,” Forseeth replied. She shook her head, lowered it, and continued, “But I doubt that will occur. I have spoken about this prophecy to many, and very few have paid attention to my words. So this darkness will likely begin to engulf our world.”

“Oh no,” moaned HarmonyCharm, and Luminous neighed sadly.

Then Forseeth lifted her head and said, “But there is a way to dissipate the darkness even if the prophecy comes to pass. A special hero, one who the world has rejected, can end the darkness for good. This hero must obtain a special gem and travel to the Coda Caves. Within the Coda Caves is a special room containing a special gem called the Mystical Core. The Dream Core and the special gem’s powers must be combined, and the darkness threatening our world will dissipate.”

“Do you know who this hero is, Forseeth?” asked HarmonyCharm.

“I do not. My powers of prophecy are powerful, but they cannot always correctly predict what actions a person might take. Anyone who has been rejected by their peers could take it upon themselves to save Subeta. But let us stop worrying about the future, and let us begin to live this moment,” replied the kora, smiling at HarmonyCharm and petting Luminous .

HarmonyCharm and Forseeth eventually became good friends. Both pets took great comfort in finding someone who had been mocked by others simply for being different. Forseeth took great interest in HarmonyCharm’s power to move gems, and tried her best to help the kora train her powers. One day, HarmonyCharm saw a letter and a strange object on her desk.

Dear HarmonyCharm,

I feel it is time for me to move on. Sadly, since we met, I have seen that Subeta continues to put more value on appearance than on kindness. Chances are that the prophecy will come to pass. I have decided to entrust this gem to you. It is the gem that must be used to activate the Dream Core. I understand that you might be surprised at the fact that I had this gem all along. I will not explain how I came to obtain the gem, but I will explain why I am giving the gem to you.

HarmonyCharm, I am not sure if you are the hero that will stop the darkness, but since you listened to my prophecy, I believe that you will play a part in stopping the darkness from eternally engulfing our world. Your ability to manipulate gems will likely be of great assistance to the one who the prophecy speaks of. Remember what I told you, and without a doubt you will find your best destiny.

HarmonyCharm held up the white crystal shard, a memento of one of her few friends.

Eventually, the prophecy came true. The citizens of Subeta one day noticed that the daylight was unusually dimmer than usual. As the day progressed, it got darker and darker. As the light faded from the sky, people became more and more concerned. In addition, many gem collectors found that the precious gems that they had worked so hard for were losing their glimmer, even in houses with bright light. The leaders of Subeta met to discuss this sudden calamity that had fallen upon them all. Suggestions were made. People hung lanterns on their houses and trees. Some of Subeta’s technicians began drafting plans to build giant mechanical lights to guide travelers. Others built bonfires. But nothing worked, and eventually it became so dark that no one could see a thing. When HarmonyCharm first saw that the light of day was fading, she remembered Forseeth’s words and immediately set out to the Coda Caves….

All these memories were going through HarmonyCharm’s mind as she opened the ancient door. She saw that this room did not have as many crystals as the rest of the Coda Caves. Soon HarmonyCharm saw that there was a large giant blue crystal in the middle of the cavern. HarmonyCharm lifted the crystal shard that Forseeth had given her into the air. After a minute or two, the crystal the angel kora held started to glow. HarmonyCharm felt her sack shaking and used her power to surround her crystal with the various Coda Cave crystals she had collected. Suddenly the large crystal in the center of the room began to glow as well, and HarmonyCharm felt the crystals pulled from her grasp. The Coda Caves crystals surrounded the Mystical Core, and the crystal Forseeth had given HarmonyCharm floated above the Mystical Core. The glow grew so bright that HarmonyCharm couldn't handle the light's intensity and she passed out. Outside the Coda Caves, some of the workers who had come to check on the caves noticed a great light emanating from the cave. Suddenly the light burst out of the cave and spread across the land, knocking everyone unconscious….

When everyone regained consciousness they discovered that the light had returned. Everyone was delighted that the crisis was over, yet there were questions about what had happened. The leaders of Subeta were stumped. Only the workers of the Coda Caves could provide clues to what had transpired, and even that was very little information. The whole incident began to be referred to as simply the Great Light, and various memorial celebrations of the event sprouted throughout Subeta. But what happened to HarmonyCharm?

HarmonyCharm woke up and found herself in a forest. It was daylight. She began to wonder if what had happened had simply been a dream. She was surprised to find that her cloak had changed color from green to a sky blue. In addition, the transformed cloak now gave HarmonyCharm the ability to become completely invisible. Then the angel kora felt a small tug at her cloak. HarmonyCharm looked down and saw a Guardian of Diamonds curiously looking up at her. Luminous neighed happily, delighted that they had a new companion. HarmonyCharm picked up the two minions and walked away into the sunlight. HarmonyCharm eventually became a skilled magic user and used her powers to help Subetans far and wide.
