AuroraScent has a minion!

Pollens the Daubby

Somewhere in the land of Veta there lived a wizard. One day he was concocting a spell and the mixture exploded. The wizard groaned in dismay at the sight of the room being covered in sticky purple goo.

"Who knows how long it will take to clean up such a magical mess?" he moaned.

Unbeknownst to the wizard, some of the purple goo had ended up flying through an open window and landed on top of a cluster of purple flowers inside the wizard’s garden.

The next day, the goo and the flowers had undergone a magical metamorphosis that resulted in a living flower blob. Despite physically not having any ears, the blob heard the local birds singing as they went about collecting food for themselves and their families. One bird landed close to the blob and began chirping. Roused by the bird’s singing, the blob opened her eyes and tried to move toward the bird out of curiosity. This movement startled the bird and made it fly into a nearby tree.

The flower blob then noticed an open bag of fertilizer placed a few feet away. The blob went to the fertilizer and planted her face in the fertilizer. Now feeling rather famished, the blob helped herself to the fertilizer. As the blob satisfied her hunger, a few pollinating insects came by and helped themselves to the nectar stored inside the little blob’s flowers.

While all these events were occurring in the garden, the wizard (who had managed to clean up the sticky goo) had decided to create little helpers that would assist him in future cleanup of magical mishaps. He had selected a round dwarf doll from a collection of dolls that he had bought from a garage sale as the object to enchant. The wizard cast a spell that would enlarge the doll and bring it to life. Unfortunately, after multiple attempts the wizard had not succeeded with his magical goal. In fact, nothing seemed to happen to the doll after the spell was cast!

The wizard’s frustration only grew worse when he smelled a burnt scent wafting through the house. The microwave had burnt the cheese sandwiches he’d prepared for lunch! The wizard left the doll and rushed to the kitchen. Disheartened at all the bad luck he was experiencing today, the wizard decided to eat out instead. As luck would have it, the wizard ended up being away from his home until very late that night. When the wizard finally returned he went straight to bed.

The next day, after doing some research the wizard wished to once again try to enchant the doll into his personal assistant. Now, however, the wizard was unable to locate the doll! Annoyed, the wizard simply grabbed the rest of the dolls and attempted to enchant them. Sadly, the spell failed on these dolls as well.

Meanwhile, the blob’s flowers had become more vibrant and gave off a stronger aroma due to its consumption of the fertilizer. More insects flew to the blob and pollinated the flowers. The blob didn’t mind though. She was content napping beside the purple flowers in the garden that hadn’t been covered in the sticky purple goo. Suddenly, the blob felt a poking sensation and opened her eyes. A tiny round man was poking her flowers! The wizard’s spell actually had an effect after all! But instead of enlarging the doll, the spell had only made the doll sentient. The next day the blob saw the other dwarf dolls had come to life as well and were wandering the garden. However, this time the spell had not only brought the dolls to life but also changed the dwarfs’ color scheme.

You’re probably wondering how all these events escaped the attention of the clumsy wizard. Well, the dolls were mute and small, so they were able to wander around the yard without making a disturbance. As for the flower blob, she was very quiet too. She hadn’t learned how to talk yet and most of the time she preferred just watching the little dwarfs meander through the garden and helping herself to the remaining fertilizer. The wizard had also been summoned to a magic convention and was therefore away for several weeks, leaving the blob and the dwarf dolls to get into whatever mischief they wished.

When the wizard first received notice of the convention he attempted to pack his possessions using a spell that he had read in an old manuscript. However, while executing this packing spell the wizard had yet another unfortunate mishap. While trying to pack his potions, one of them opened mid-flight and spilled some of its contents on some gelatin that the wizard had thrown away into a nearby trash can a few days ago. The wizard didn’t notice this latest goof due to placing all his concentration on the packing spell. So the potion and gelatin mixture was left unattended.

One day, while the wizard was at the magic convention, the flower blob noticed some of the dwarf dolls wander outside the garden. The dwarfs had done this before, but this time the flower blob’s curiosity was aroused enough for her to follow the dwarfs outside the garden. After following the dwarfs for a short distance, the flower blob heard a strange noise and turned in the noise’s direction. She soon saw that the noise was coming from two illumis having an argument.

Filled with even more curiosity, the flower blob moved directly under the illumis. Since she had never heard words spoken before, the flower blob quietly listened to the illumis continue their argument. Suddenly, the little blob sneezed, scattering a big cloud of pollen around herself and the illumis. The illumis coughed slightly as they inhaled the pollen. Soon the illumis calmed down and flew elsewhere together. She didn’t know it at that moment, but it turns out that the little flower blob was capable of producing magical pollen that soothed emotions.

The flower blob tried to find the dwarf dolls, but she had gotten lost due to this being her first time outside of the wizard’s garden. This change in fortune made the blob feel a little sad. Though neither she nor the dwarf dolls could talk, they had managed to become friends. The dwarfs had observed that the flower blob would go to the fertilizer to alleviate her hunger and had started to brings bits of fertilizer to the flower blob, which had made the blob happy. Suddenly, the blob heard a buzzing noise. She looked around but didn’t see anyone. It turns out that a Duabby was examining the flower blob’s flowers. The insect was enamoured by the beauty of the blob’s flowers and decided to make a nest there.

Over the next several weeks the blob and her new duabby friend wandered around the forest. They came across more creatures who fell under the serene spell of the blob’s pollen. Some of the creatures grew fond of the little flower blob and began to play with her. During one of these play sessions the little blob came across a river and saw her reflection. She realized that she had grown in size compared to the last time she’d seen her reflection on the shiny surface of a vase in the wizard’s garden. Eventually the little blob made two very special friends: a harvest darkonite and a glade cybill. They named the little blob AuroraScent because of her beautiful flowers and her pleasant aroma. As AuroraScent played with all her new friends, she learned that her growth was a result of absorbing the energy from the positive emotions that the creatures around her emanated.

One day AuroraScent, the cybill, and the darkonite were playing in the forest when they heard a loud noise.

“What was that?” asked the glade cybill timidly.

“Sounds like trouble,” answered the braver darkonite, “let’s go and see!”

AuroraScent said nothing but loyally followed her friends in the direction of the noise. Was she surprised to discover that the commotion was coming from the wizard’s cottage where she had been born! But what AuroraScent and her fellow pets saw next was a even bigger shock.

A giant multi-colored blob was rampaging in the wizard’s yard! The wizard was desperately trying to tame the monstrous blob using his magic, but it was a losing battle. As the battle between the blob and the wizard raged on, AuroraScent saw her old dwarf friends frantically darting about the place. Both the cybill and darkonite were at a complete loss about what to do. But AuroraScent would waste no time in solving the problem.

She moved towards the wizard and the blob. Now it should be noted that AuroraScent had grown quite a bit in size since the time she had seen her reflection in the river. She was only a couple of feet shorter than the rampaging blob, so AuroraScent could stand her ground in a fight. However, fighting was not Aurorascent’s intention. Instead, once AuroraScent got close enough to the other blob she began shaking her body and released large clouds of pollen. As luck would have it, the rampaging blob began to calm down. As the blob calmed down, the wizard felt a small tug on his robe. Two of the dwarf dolls had the good sense to bring the wizard’s spellbook to him. Using the spellbook, the wizard cast a spell that broke the blob into smaller blob creatures.

After all that excitement, the wizard explained to the pets what had happened. When he had returned from the magic convention, he was shocked to find small blob creatures crawling all over his house! The blobs were a result of the wizard’s potion spilling into the trash can while he’d been packing for his trip. Since he had left the mess unattended, the potion caused the gelatin in the trash to come to life (just like Aurorascent). The wizard hastily grabbed his wand and attacked the blobs with spells to get the blobs out of the house. One of the gelatin blobs was hit during this magical onslaught. Now agitated, the blob scurried past the wizard and ran right smack into another blob. The two blobs merged into one and began to seek out the other blobs. One by one the remaining blobs merged to form a giant blob monster bent on defending itself from the wizard’s magic.

The wizard sighed and shook his head sadly. “These last several weeks none of my incantations have gone according to plan! Maybe I’m just not cut out for being a wizard….”

.As he hung his head, the wizard saw AuroraScent crawling up to him.

“Gracious me, how were you able to tame that thing?” he asked the blob.

“She’s always been able to do that,” answered the glade cybill, “when creatures are arguing AuroraScent here just walks up to them and they stop fighting like nothing was ever wrong. I think her pollen soothes emotions when inhaled.”

As the cybill spoke, some of the dwarf dolls recognized AuroraScent and hugged her. The flower blob accepted their hug with a warm smile.

The wizard chose to focus on gathering and selling magic ingredients, a skill that he had much aptitude in. AuroraScent managed to befriend the newly formed blobs, and together with the dwarf dolls they assisted the wizard in gathering magic ingredients. All who came to the wizard’s cottage were delighted by AuroraScent’s kindness and gentle nature, and the lilac blob was instrumental in diffusing heated arguments between customers.

The harvest darkonite and the glade cybill remained good friends with AuroraScent. One day they each brought the blob a gift. The darkonite gave a common antlephore plushie and the cybill gave an lilac anyu beanbag. AuroraScent treasured these gifts as if they were the finest gold. She slept with these items every night from that moment on.

To this day, AuroraScent the lilac blob continues to spread peace and kindness to all she meets.
