Hello! I'm Xerophytes, it's wonderful to meet you.

Hm? What does it mean? Well, it's...a greeting? Meaning I'm happy that...you're here?

What? Oh! My name - what does my name mean. You should really clarify yourself dear. A xerophyte (which is fancy Greek - xeros means dry and phuton means plant!) is a species of plants that have adapted to situations with little to no water. Commonly known xerophytes are cacti, pineapples, and succulents! Plants that grow in deserts or arid regions, you know?

Xerophytes are truly incredible! I adore them. Actually, a lot of people adore them. For some reason, a lot of people seem to think they're really simple plants to purchase and have, like: "if it can survive in the desert, I guess I can't possibly kill it"simple. That's not really true though! They have needs and such, you just have to listen to them.

Firstly! Don't over water them. The best way to make a succulent happy is to make sure they have a good pot and good soil that drains well - wet soil will kill your poor plant and no one wants that. When you water your plant, you'll want a mini-flood of sorts every one to two weeks, depending on the plant. Think of it like the desert! It only rains every now and then and when it does, goodness it's a lot! Speaking of deserts, they like it warm too. They need it to be...around 75 degrees to be happy and then they'll take a little rest during the winter.

You have to trim them too because succulents love to just explode and grow into all weird shapes if you let them. Some get really tall and then flop over, which looks really silly! If they do that, they might need a bigger pot, but be weary of replanting them as damaging roots can kill your plant too. And some xerophytes, like cacti, are tricky to replant with all those prickly spines. Re-potting it is really only necessary if you want it to get big though because goodness they'll grow big if you let them! And make lots of little babies too. If you keep them in a smaller pot or terrarium, be sure to trim it and keep up with it to keep it happy.

Hm? What do you mean is that it? I said they have needs - they are good plants to have and they don't take a lot of effort, but you still have to pay them attention! I do recommend having succulents, they're so pretty and unique - and you can display them is so many cool ways! If you live in a hot area, you can even have them outdoors!

Isn't that a dream? A big ol' xerophyte garden. That would make me happy as can be.
