You can't shake the sensation of being watched.

Oogly, greenish glowing eyes peer at you from the midst of the dark trees. Your first instinct should be to run, and to not look back. But something about the atmosphere at this moment leaves you rooted on the spot.
You're calm, too calm. So calm, in fact, that you don't even startle when the big eyed creature slowly rolls its head in an unnatural manner, never once taking its stare off of you. You blink, and suddenly everything is swallowed in brownish hues. There's a feather-like sensation touching every bit of skin on your body. It all goes black in seconds.

You wake up with the morning sun on your face. The backpack you've been carrying is laying on the dirty forest soil beside you, its contents sprawled around, discarded. It doesn't take long for the memories of the night before to come back to your mind. With a deep sinking feeling in the stomach, you gather all your things and get up as fast as you can.

You arrive at a little village after a few minutes of hurried footsteps, soon catching the attention of some villagers nearby. Telling them about the strange encounter on the forest, you're surprised to find that this happening is not unheard of. They call the creature --her, you learn-- The Witch, for a lack of a better term.
"You're one of the lucky ones, pal. There were times where the only thing that came to us was a badly dilacerated body part."
