Akira 🐾 A Tribute
Akira is my beloved German Shepherd dog (GSD). I adopted her from the pound when she was 2. They found her as a stray on the streets and skinny. I went to visit the shelter one day, thinking about getting a dog, and found her there. She was in their metal cage scared and confused. Dogs all around her were barking but she sat shaking and silent. Her tail wagged a little as we locked eyes. I had some cheese in my hands I was trying to offer her, but she wasn't interested. She feverishly licked my hand, full of anxiety. I felt connected in that moment.
We took her into the yard of the shelter to see how she reacted. She anxiously wandered everywhere in the small enclosed metal cage. All she knew was that she was trapped and I could feel it. I could relate to it. That day I met my true soul mate. The shelter gave her the name Delilah. She didn't respond to it. She wasn't much of a Delilah.
She's an Akira.
Being the brand new dog owner that I was, there was no way I could have been ready for Akira.
All I could do was my best.
Eventually I figured the best thing I could do for her was train her and get a simple baseline. All I needed at the very least was a reliable "sit" command and my life would be complete.
All the while I was training her, I saw how truly receptive she was to listening and doing what was right. I couldn't imagine how someone could just dump their animal and not go looking for them. It made me all the more grateful to have found her and taken her into my home. It drove me to try harder in my training with her and let her know that she's loved; that I'm here for her; that I wont leave her; I will always be there for her. She taught me that.
Akira taught me unconditional love.
All through my life my love and affection wasn't matched I would always give more than others and it would cause heart ache and pain. Akira was the first thing that had returned it truly.
In Closing
I'm not one to make fancy stories or pet pages. I've never attempted to make a page like this. I got the storm potion from the Tempest in a random event and looked at what I could use it for. When I saw the Storm Telenine it called to me. Akira looks just like this when she's playing out in the rain or in water of any sort. She absolutely loves it. And I love her for it. I had to do something to make my love and care for her lasting. Hopefully this tribute is well enough.
