WIPMaena was probably the luckiest of a band of utter monsters - she somehow made it out not only with her life but with some shred of dignity. Maybe the barest thread of a soul, of a conscience. She should garner little sympathy for this, however. Perhaps pity. She was a cruel monster... in somewhat of a past life. Though she toils in welcome obscurity, both thirsting for knowledge and for coin as a humble merchant servant of Abadar, she was once a mightily cruel cleric. High Priestess of Asmodeus after a religious coup installed her and her band of Asmodean servants as rulers of a once-prosperous (and then corrupt, and then even MORE corrupt by the stink of Asmodeus) nation of Mitra worshippers. Although she was the most devout of the band of evildoers (being an actual Asmodean cleric) and could've reveled just the same as her cohorts without it being out of place, she was largely more reserved, preferring to keep her nose in books - many, many, books, of which started her on her path of worship - and largely didn't care for vices. Even when she took an ice giantess for a wife, she wasn't very sexual in general, and she hardly drank or partook of drugs or gambling. Nor did she care much for virtues either, however. This takes us back to her childhood, where it all began. No books will keep it on record but Maena and her family, the Calgyreons, were Aasimar, human/celestial beings. Why it will not be on record is that hardly anyone next to her family and her former comrades knew of this. Maena, for whatever reason, never held enough features to appear distinctly Aasimar, and thus appeared Human in nearly every discernable way. This is often not something of import considering many Aasimar may not even know they are Aasimar until further down their generational line, but the Calgyreons, as well as the company they kept in the form of many other Aasimar families (most of which were nobility), were distinctly Aasimar. Except for Maena.
