Profile

Now, I understand what you tried to say to me

My first introduction to Josh Groban was through his cover of the song You Raise Me Up. And his version of it is, to this day, my favorite version of that song that I’ve heard. His voice is just so perfect for it.
I’ve been a fan of the opera-pop genre for a while now, and enjoy listening to groups like Il Divo, Collabro and pretty much any opera-pop song that participates in the Eurovision Song Contest. And then there’s Josh Groban, with his amazing voice that just makes me feel like I’m being held in a loving embrace whenever I listen to him sing.

Now, I usually don’t include covers in my top ten songs by an artist or band that I make a tribute pet to, but in the case of Groban I feel like I would have to remove so many of the songs that I really like with him from my list that it wouldn’t feel right not to include them. So, that’s what I’ll be doing here.
And, as always, I will include a list of songs that didn’t quite make it to the top ten, but that I still enjoy a lot. Those honorable mentions are as follows: Symphony, S’il Suffisait D’aimer, River, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Pure Imagination, Bring Him Home, Try To Remember, Over the Rainbow, Anthem, To Where You Are, The Prayer, Per Te, February Song, So She Dances, Now Or Never, Lullaby, Machine, Bells of New York, Hidden Away, The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress, The World We Knew (Over And Over), Shape of My Heart and It’s Now Or Never.

And how you suffered for your sanity

This song has such a beautiful melody, and Groban’s voice accompanies the music so perfectly. And the chorus feels so grandiose after the calm, and low, verses. Beautiful, just beautiful.

This one is a lot more pop-y than the previous one. And the playfulness of the melody is what stands out to me the most in this one. Other than the vocals, obviously ;)

I love the Latin flavor this one has. It’s like a sensual Latin ballad. But sung in English, by the wonderful Josh Groban. I really like how dramatic it feels as well when he sings the title of the song.

Now, to be perfectly honest here the biggest reason for this song to be on my top ten list is because of the TV-show that the song accompanied. And I’m talking about the original TV-show, which was the Swedish version called Bron (literally translates to the bridge). It wasn’t Groban that sang it for the Swedish version but I just love his version of it a lot. Just as much as I loved that show ♥️

Might seem weird to have a Christmas song on the list, but I love this song. Have done so ever since I watched the movie it’s from (The Polar Express). It just makes me so happy to listen to, and just emotional in general.

This song is so wonderful to listen to when you’re feeling down and need a pick-me-up. So inspirational. At least it is for me. It makes me happy and just feel good about life again.

I just adore the playful notes in the melody of this song. And it’s another inspirational one, just like the previous song on the list. Very much a -feel-good song for me.

The one that started it all, my love for Josh Groban. There was no way that this one wasn’t making the list. If the previous two entries on the list were inspirational, then this is that tenfold for me. And this one is probably the one song that Groban’s done that feels the most like a loving embrace to listen to for me.

I love the African music in this, the choir and the overall African feel to it. Which makes sense since it is an African song to begin with. But the lyrics are the crowning jewels in this song. They have a meaning that is worth thinking about, even today. And Groban sings it so beautifully ♥️

This song. Not only do I love the subject matter of the song (Vincent van Gogh), but Josh does it so beautifully and with such feeling that I often have a hard time not getting teary-eyed when listening, and singing along, to it ♥️

And how you tried to set them free

I will never tire of listening to Groban’s amazing voice. It makes me feel good, and happy. Especially when listening to the songs that I’ve mentioned in this text, but also when listening to the other songs that he’s recorded over the years. And I honestly don’t mind that he’s recorded a lot of covers. Because hearing them sung by someone with his voice makes the songs feel so different to me.
I will definitely be looking forward to enjoying many more songs sung by this incredible artist in the future ♥️

They would not listen, they did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now
