What sparked the metal workers interest was the arm in her sling. Her finger’s caught the light from his kitchen, for instead of being made of flesh and bone, they were made of brass.“Why don’t you come in? I’ll take a look at that arm for you.â€

She still hadn’t made eye contact with him, nor surrendered the bread. But Squall could care less about that now.
Squalls’ young boy, Brightside, poked and probed the poor girls' arm and attacked her with questions. The girl looked as if she was about to snap. Squall hurried over and shooed his son away and sat down to examine her arm.
His first thought was that her left arm was covered in brass armor. As it turns out, that arm was more than that. From what Squall could see, the girls’ natural arm had been hurt somehow and she had lost the function of it. The brass that covered the arm also covered a complicated series of wires and gears design to return the use of the arm. Squall had never seen anything like it.“I wonder who built this…†Squall thought out loud to himself.
“I did†said the girl.

Since that day Squall took in the girl (whose name was Leipzig), and made her his apprentice. Squall fixed her metal arm. The problem was the metal she had used as casing was cheap and rusting. Squall taught Leipzig how to pick quality ore and melt it down to make high quality armor or casing. Squall also watched amazed as Leipzig’s talent with inventing and machinery grew.
Now that Leipzig has grown, she has changed from apprentice to business partner. Together, the pair built a magnificent airship. Deutschland is their pride and joy. Along with Squalls’ two sons Bright, Leipzig’s first mate, and Dust, the navigator, the four of them make a fine team.
And dare he say, a fine family.
