Not Mr, not Ms.
Mx.
History:
It was developed as an alternative to common gendered honorifics. The title Mx is used by any who do not wish to use the Mr/Ms/Mrs/Miss rigmarole (why are there still 3 female ones anyway??) so often used by people who are Non Binary, Genderfluid, Genderqueer, as well as Intersex individuals.
It is a gender-neutral title that is now widely accepted by several governments including the United Kingdom. It is included in all major English dictionaries. The word was first proposed in the late 1970s, with "widespread" usage since 1985. The "x" is intended to stand as a wildcard character, and does not imply a "mixed" gender.
The title has become popular among those who identify as non-binary – though there are no official figures, non-binary people make up around 0.4% of the population, according to a Equality and Human Rights Commission survey of 10,000 people in the UK. Being recognised as Mx is a powerful step for many who are non-binary.
Non-binary is a spectrum of gender identities that are not exclusively masculine or feminine—identities that are outside the gender binary. Genderqueer is an earlier term with the same meaning, originating from queer zines of the 1980s. Non-binary identities fall under the transgender umbrella, since most non-binary people identify with a gender that’s different from their assigned sex.
Non-binary people may identify as having two or more genders (being bigender or trigender); having no gender (agender, nongendered, genderless, genderfree or neutrois); moving between genders or having a fluctuating gender identity (genderfluid); being a mixture of both genders (ambigendered); being third gender or other-gendered (a category that includes those who do not place a name to their gender).
In the 2019 Gender Census, which surveyed 11,242 people who did not identify with the standard binary, 31.3% of respondents use the title of Mx. By far the highest percentage of any title. The favourite personal pronouns used are currently they/them/their/theirs/themself at 79.5%. It is still unknown at this point how many people in the general population do not define themselves by simply male or female.
