How I became a 3D Angel
Life was good. It was not extremely exciting, but good. I was happy to live in my beautiful two-dimensional (2D) world. After all, my mom was 2D, the beautiful land of Subeta was 2D, my minion was 2D, and even my friends were 2D. I was just like everyone else! I was happy. Something deep inside me, though, longed to be more than what I was. I wanted to be something exceptional, I wanted to be 3-dimensional, and, I wanted to fly!

MyLambie was my given name, though my mom called me Angel much of the time. She loved to read me stories about Devonti angels who lived among the clouds. Because of this, I dreamed of a day when I could sprout wings, grow a halo, and fly way up into the heavens. How wonderful it would be to fly over Subeta and see everything from above. I had heard there were some very special ones in Subeta who had become angels, but for me it was still just a hope and a dream. A dream, that is, until the day that dream came true.

My mom worked very hard. She owned a store and spent every day stocking shelves and selling items. My favorite part of the store was the sweets department of course, and I would fill my pockets with divinity and snack on them during the day. I don't think my mom knew, so I would appreciate it if you didn't tell her. Anyway, I spent many hours while I was young hanging out in the family store and loved every minute of it. Mom told me that one day if we worked really hard she might have enough money to buy a special potion which would change me into an angel and change my life forever. As life would have it, though, this was not the way it happened. They way it happened was truly much more exciting.

It was a Tuesday, warm and rainy and quite humid. I was sitting, as usual, in the candy department, snacking on mint divinity and reading my favorite book, "How to Draw Vesnali Lambs," when a trumpet sounded. Mom and I looked out the front window and much to our surprise King Keith was standing at the store entrance decked out in his finest robe and crown with a wood box in his hands. We ran to the door and tried to look dignified even though we were very flustered at the unexpected surprise. My fur was curly and puffy from the humidity and my mom's apron was wrinkled, but that didn't seem to bother the King at all. He graciously took my Mom's hand and said he had something for us. He said that because we were such loyal subjects and had worked tirelessly for the good of Subeta, he wanted to bestow upon us a "Loyalty Box." Though we were not sure what this was, we thanked him profusely and he departed the store with much trumpeting and fanfare.

Mom opened the box and inside were seven totems. The directions accompanying the totems instructed us to use only one item but we could use any item we chose. My mom said, "Angel, this is your lucky day." "You are going to became the angel you always dreamed you would become." I did try to protest, though, because Mom could have chosen to have a new store if she had wanted to, to change her name, or even to have a new member of our family. "Angel," she said. "I love my name (Poukibear), I have 10 already in my family to care for, and this shop is more than enough to keep us busy." "No," she said, "We will use this box to change you into an angel," and she handed me the totem. I opened it slowly and carefully. This was not something to rush. I saw sparkles and felt tingles and then it happened. I rose into the air, sprouted a beautiful set of wings and a halo surrounded my head. My fur turned a beautiful white and my skin became a heavenly blue. I let out the loudest Baa Baaaaa of my life and flew around the store. After knocking over a few cabinets and sending peppermints flying across the room, we felt it would be better if I left the store. Up I flew into the sky. It was more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. The breeze in my fur, the feeling of being lighter than air, and the puffy clouds scattered all around me. I rested there upon a cloud and took in all the sights below me. There were lakes and mountains and dark lands. There were farmlands and seas and boats and so many other things to behold. As I sat on the cloud that day it was hard for me to believe all my fortune. I felt truly blessed.

I know, I know, you are still wondering how I became a three-dimensional angel. Well, much to my surprise, becoming an angel was not my only blessing that day. As I sat on the cloud and contemplated my life, I still felt the same nagging discontented stirring inside me that I had felt all my life. Being angelic was great, a dream, a wonderful thing, but it was just not enough. I wanted dimension. Now this part you may not believe, but it really did happen. Above me flying majestically through the sky I saw a great angelic Rreign. He was big and strong and beautiful. What I didn't realize was that I was sitting on his own personal cloud. As I watched him, he flew closer and closer to me, and as he flew by he whacked me on the head with his wing. He flew around in a circle and headed straight for me again. This time I was ready, though, and flapped my wings just in time to knock him off guard and send him into a tailspin. Unfortunately, this just agitated him more (apparently he was not a happy angel). The Rreign swooped to the ground below me and then up again with something in his teeth. He flew towards me at a very dangerous speed and before I could react, he hit me right on the head with a "Dimensional Hammer." He even bent my brand new halo! It was then that it happened. Everything around me started popping. It sounded like bubble wrap from my Mom's store but much much louder. The world was changing. My body puffed out in every direction. The clouds puffed. The land puffed. Everything burst into 3D! I sat there on the cloud in a state of wonder for the longest time (apparently the Rreign felt bad about using the dimensional hammer on me and flew away). Then I realized it was probably time for dinner, and I didn't want my mom to worry so I flew home.

My life is quite different now. Although I do still spend some of my time in the family store, my wings get me into more trouble than it is worth, and my Mom tells me to go outside for heaven's sake! I fly around and help out the people of Subeta at every opportunity. I try to be a good angel so I can keep my halo, but I can be found occasionally throwing pie at someone. No harm done and people don't really seem to mind. My 3-Dimensional angelic life is more than I could ever have imagined or hoped for, and I am very grateful to the King and the wonderful people of Subeta. I know my life will be an adventure, but I feel I could not possibly live any way other than happily ever after!
