The TNM machine was created in the hope of discovering exactly what a man was before his birth. It was created to pry deep into a mans brain; to access his thoughts that were made before he could even think them. The only problem is that the machine has been deemed to dangerous and controversial to be used on humans. Scientists are forced to use animals in mans place.
The behemoth of a machine takes up the space of two football fields with its mountain of wires and metal. When used on an animal, wires are connected through its eyes and to its brain.The creatures past memories are thrown onto a screen going slowly at first...

...and then there is blackness, and the creature dies. Every time.
When Refine was put through the machine he suffered the same fate as every other creature forced to relive its memories. He died painfully and the last thing he remembered is the blackness of his first memory. When he awoke he was a new serpenth. He felt light and free of pain, but he was still surrounded in blackness.
He waited and waited for what seemed like forever until he saw something coming towards him. It was a puppy!The cutest puppy he had ever seen. It kept coming closer and closer; it wasn't walking through the darkness but floating through it and illuminating everything it went by. The puppy floated straight towards Refine and stopped in front of him.
"Do not fear me Refine. I have been sent to help you leave this place of darkness and come to the place you belong." the puppy said. It looked straight into refines eyes and barked and all of the darkness was thrown away to show light.
The light of the sun, the stars, the moon...every light you could possibly imagine combined to create a beautiful haven. refine was brought to an absolute standstill. He couldnt bring a single word to his lips after stepping into this beautiful world.
