It all started when Qazim returned from the Snowman Building Contest. While he was taking care of the neelas, one of them noticed the white stuff on his shoes. The young neela was intrigued and Qazim what the stuff was. Qazim told the neela that it was snow, something not found where they lived, The Sacred Lands. Snow was extremely abundant in the Arctic Frost, a land hundreds of miles away from the hot blazing sands of the Sacred Lands. The neela was intrigued by this information and from that day forward wondered of a world covered in snow.

The young arid neela quickly found that her interest in snow was an oddity among her species. Neelas use the sands of the Sacred Lands to hide from predators and are able to find water in a location other pets would struggle. What neela in their right mind would leave a place where they could find whatever they needed and offered protection for a place where a drop a water would freeze by the time you tried to drink it? The more the arid neela tried to share her interest in snow, the more confused and disapproving looks she got from her fellow neelas.

Eventually the neela decided she must set out on her own to seek what she desired. One night she stole away from her home and boarded a ship for the Arctic Frost.
