Oh so cold!Tali Snow
A brave warrior indeed! The sky above was a comforting azure blue, a stark contrast to the blinding white snow that covered nearly all of the small village in the Arctic Frost. You could barely make out the structures of houses and businesses thanks to how much snow had fallen and settled within the last twenty-four hours. Still in a sense this was a picture perfect scene and made the agile ice deer all the more eager to get out there and explore.
Frost puffed out his chest as he stepped free from the mountain of snow he had called his own, his pale eyes almost aglow as they scanned the village below. Hardly anyone was out at this time due to how cold it had gotten, far colder than it should be for this time of year, yet for Frost this weather was beyond perfect. Now what would make it even better would be if they got even more snow. Ah but that might make him sound greedy, fine snow could fall again in a few days. See compromise.
He had grown up in the forest just outside the village, often seeing people coming through on their way to and from the South. He had always been too curious for his own good, sneaking away from his brothers and sisters to follow a lone traveler back towards the village and sort of spy on them in innocent awe. He had only ever gone into the village itself once and that was during a small storm, his pale fur blended in so well that if anyone had looked outside, they wouldn't be able to make out his features! That single visit was also where he discovered those great slabs of salt!
Oh boy was that a delicious treat, it was also the reason he almost got caught by one of the people in the village too, he was so engrossed in his consumption of the salt that he narrowly missed being stepped on by someone coming out to gather logs of wood. Thankfully Frost had heard the crunch of snow underfoot just in time and had darted off back towards the forest before anyone was the wiser. He made sure to not tell his mother or siblings about that little mistake.
He would surely be banned from ever leaving the forest if they ever found out about it. No amount of salt was worth losing his freedom to come and go as he pleased, the wild open fields were often way too much fun playing tag in, you didn't risk banging your head on a tree out there.
Today however seemed to yield nothing exciting for him though, he couldn't make out any salt slabs near those strange wooden huts the villagers kept themselves cooped up in. Had they caught on to his thievery? Perhaps or maybe the snow had most of it covered right now and it was much too big a risk to try and sniff it out right then and there, not with the sky being so clear and the sun being too bright. Frost sulked as he sunk into some a nearby pile of snow, blending in almost perfectly.
His eyelids grew heavy with sleep, the tempting call of a nap was like a lullaby to him, thankfully a quick burst of cold had snapped him out of his reverie just in time to have him bounce free of the snow and land on more solid ground. He spared a glance back at the village before merely racing off towards the outskirts of the forest. Maybe he'd go back in a few days under the cloak of another storm, this time being far more careful not to get trampled on while he's enjoying his salt treat.
