One day I wondered idly what it would be like to be a pirate. I mentioned to a childhood friend, Xian, my diabolic plan to set sail and wreak havoc on the corrupt officials of the world. He told me that he wasn't letting me go alone. Something about getting myself killed.

Aimee was a kindred spirit and we knew when we met that we would be close. I just didn't expect to meet anyone like that in a bar. Or the ensuing bar fight. Or the small jail cell that we sat in (Xian bailed us out). Didn't expect her to be such a great shot with a cannon, either.
Aimee's just full of surprises.

After about a week of failed cooking attempts from all three of us (really, how was I supposed to know that you had to drain the potatoes before you mashed them?), we started hunting for a cook. Another week passed before we found Aria. Shunned from most restaurants and ships due to her "pets" she was almost as desperate as we were. Although some of her cookbooks are quite unusual and the bloody cookware always makes me cringe a little inside, she is quite the talented chef.
Except for that time she made fugu. I could have gone without the fear of imminent death during dinner.

Tara was another person that I picked up after a desperate search and the fear of our current collective skills (or lack thereof). I caught her elbow deep in dirt and weeds, and stunned me with perfect directions and an eerie sense of direction. I asked if she could read a map and compass, and her reply made me push her to become my navigator. I am still kind of shocked she agreed to join me at all. I guess the promise of a huge garden on the ship helped.
Still don't know how I got talked into that one.

We caught Blaze while she was running for her life, which, in turn, ended up with us running for our lives with her. Very determined marines chased for a ridiculous amount of nautical miles before we lost them. Turned out she was less wanted then we were (we had exposed a prominent governor's underground doings and he was less then pleased about that) and she decided we would be fun and joined us. Though, Xian had to make her eat dirt first.
Now, if only she would stop trying to kill everyone she meets.

After Blaze joined us, we quickly realized that we had very little medical knowledge, and her body swiftly grew more and more scarred as we clumsily tried to patch her up. I was more than ready to find a physician after someone nearly disemboweled the girl. That was about the time we found Marine, bless her. Took one look at our patch job on our resident psychopath and agreed to come with us.

Kai joining my increasingly ragtag crew was an oddity in itself. The man fell from the sky, for God's sake. No recollection of where he came from or who he was, other than his name. It made me laugh, as it was so cliche for a guy like him. I'm pretty sure he's half dragon and he's like a freaking walking tank, that guy.
But we still love him.

Shortly after we ran out of money for the umpteenth time, I decided we needed a bosun. One who could actually do more complex math then "one for you, one for me". That was getting extremely tedious. So, when we landed at an out of the way port, and Aria came back with a basket full of spices and a tale of a voodoo priest, I knew I had my man. His flat look sent a shiver up my spine, which was exactly what I wanted. I didn't expect him to be so perfect for his job, but that's what happens when I pick a man who speaks to spirits.

Dell? Dell fixed our ship once. He decided he liked my personality. He joined the crew. That was about it. No, really.

So there we were, running from the marines (again), the tides fighting our every step, the wind whipping the sails back and forth. Rain blurred our vision and the thunder rolls drowned out the calls from my lips. She was lucky we saw her. Hell, she was lucky we had Kai, who spotted her. Frost floated pale and death-like on the water, buoyed by a plank. We got her aboard, somehow, and she lived.
Turns out she's an ex-marine. So now we have an in, so to speak. I get dirt on the bad boys of the sea, and she gets to kick marine ass. Win-win, if you ask me, even if she has sworn to kill me one day.

Skoli was an informant. One of the best out there. She could get the walls to talk and the fly on said wall to sing opera, if she wanted. Okay, I'm exaggerating, but she was good. And she was out to get me. This was before I pinned her to light post using her own scythe. And before I convinced her she would live longer working for me. Kind of surprised she agreed.
But then, the woman uses a scythe. She can't be that sane.

Chloe. Chloe probably has the most depressing past, yet is the happiest person currently aboard my carrack. We picked her up shortly after her small village was destroyed by pirates (bad pirates, not us) and were going to turn her over to the nearest authority. But we had to flee from some determined bounty hunter. And then there were the massive floods. And her thirteenth birthday party. And then we got attached.
I blame Dell. It's always Dell's fault.

Suzaku's Ship

Meeca's ship is a three masted carrack, Gold's Sin. The high rounded stern allows the ship to sail through rough seas and it has enough room to store provisions for long voyages, even with how much food the boys eat.

The ship is easily recognizable, when the stylized topsail is raised, or Suzaku's jolly roger is flying. However, since the carrack is an extremely popular ship on the ocean, as long as the sail and flag are hidden, very few marines recognize it at a glance.
