✦ Story ✦

"You're cold," she whispered to herself.

"You're dying."

Elysium pulled the fading core closer to her and gently wrapped her body around it to prevent anymore heat from escaping. Elysium had seen millions of stars collapse into white dwarves, but never one so close to its end. The core's pulse was near non-existent, she could hardly feel it beating as she held it in her paws. There was hardly any energy left to harvest and it's energy alone will not be able to sustain her for long. Elysium held onto the core tighter and became hesitant to absorb it's remaining energy. It was pitiful to her to think that it had to wait this long to be harvested. She didn't want to let the little thing go.

The core grew dimmer and dimmer, losing its strength to create anymore energy. It's time was nearing and yet Elysium still couldn't find it in her to absorb what's left of the star. It wouldn't be able to provide her with enough energy to reach the next galaxy, nor did she want to let it die and get lost into the void.

"What do you want to do little one?" she questioned the core.

It continued to glow.

"What do you want me to do?"

Silence surrounded Elysium as the little core continued to steadily glow in her paws. It felt as thought she was holding a warm, faintly beating heart. The core was struggling. There was her answer.

Elysium plucked one of the halos orbiting her horns and threw it to an empty spot. Immediately the halo expanded and began to accumulate any nearby gas and dust clouds. Elysium released the core and flew to the halo and began to quickly circle around it. The faster she spun, the more speed she generated until the halo began to spin on its own. Elysium went back to the core and softly held it to her chest so that it wouldn't die. There wasn't much time left, the halo's contents were beginning to collapse and the core was moments away from disappearing forever.

The halo collapsed into a disc of nothing but gas and dust. Elysium had a short time frame to save the core. By the time she reached the disc, a new core began to form; the protostar. Before it could complete it's formation, Elysium grabbed the protostar and fused the dying core to it. The core was reborn. In a few million years it will become a star and emanate an even more brilliant glow that it once had.

"You've waited long enough," Elysium said as she tossed another halo towards the forming star.

"I won't make you wait again."

Nuclear fission was occurring at an alarming rate within the star and it began to swell. It was generating heat and energy so quickly that Elysium had to fly off to a safer distance. She had been burned by a forming sun once, she wasn't going to be burned again. Elysium watched as the white dwarf began to engulf the empty space around it, quickly filling it with its new form. It's glow was blinding and the heat was almost unbearable for her. Several more moments later, the formation was complete. What would have taken the star millions of years to do alone, Elysium had done in just a few moments. A strong wave radiated from the supergiant, almost as if it sighed out of relief. Elysium sighed too, she didn't think the sun would grow to be bigger than the others in the galaxy. She also thought she was going to be burned again.

"You took advantage of my gift to you. You're among the giants now." she laughed.

She was right. She could have stopped the formation at any moment and was hoping the white dwarf would be content with it's new found life as an average-star, a regular sun and stop growing on its own. But it had more ambition for its resurrection. The near-death core was now a flaming ball of energy. Immediately solar flares began to radiate from its surface.

"Don't thank me, you left me no choice. You were such a pitiful sight to look at."

More sun flares.

Elysium flew closer to the sun to bask in its glow. Despite being nearly burned earlier, she found comfort in the sun's warmth. Elysium had given life to stars a few times before, but she had never turned a star into a sun. This one was truly a titan.

"You've struggled against the cold for eons, my Titan, may you never struggle again. But don't mistake the mercy I have shown you for kindness. I promise, I will return to harvest you."

Of course she didn't mean it. Elysium hoped that her little Titan would continue to burn until the end of time. She placed one paw, permanently reddened from being burned by millions of stars, against the sun's surface to determine its lifespan. She sighed and flew off, it was time for her to leave.

Before completely disappearing into a blackhole to reach another distant galaxy, Elysium used her to tail to pluck and throw another halo into the sun's core.

"Never fade, my little Titan," she quietly whispered to herself.

✦ Synopsis ✦

Elysium lives in space and roams around the different galaxies destroying and creating stars. Elysium absorbs the energy of dying stars (red giants and white dwarves mainly, hence her coloring) and harvests it in her horns, the energy from a star is what fuels her and keeps her alive. For every star she "consumes," she creates another in place of it. The more energy she harvests, the longer she lives and the more developed her powers become. Some of her abilities include atomic breath, invisibility, regeneration, and telekinesis; she communicates through telepathy. Elysium's eyes are always closed and open only when her abilities have reached their maximum potential. When she isn't creating/destroying stars, she is creating rings for planets, like those of Saturn. Elysium creates these rings by cutting her long, golden whiskers into pieces and wrapping them around planets. The color and brightness of the rings are dependent on how much energy she has left in her horns, which is why some planets have bright, almost glowing rings while others have dark ones.

Elysium also has the ability to create, destroy, and travel through blackholes. It's unknown how she's able to do so without being torn apart, but she often doesn't realize she's gone through a blackhole. She also moves incredibly fast and cannot usually be seen from the ground unless she is travelling very close to a planet. Even then one can hardly see her; she's often mistaken as a meteor passing by.

When Elysium doesn't have the energy to speak or doesn't see the need to speak, she projects images/holograms of past events from the jewel on her forhead. She uses the sensory nerves in her paw pads to learn about her environment and gather information; for example, the sensory nerves in her pawpads allow her to determine how close to dying they are. *it is rumored that she can travel through supermassive blackholes and create them as doorways, or portals, to travel from galaxy to galaxy; but it takes an immense amount of energy for her to do so.
