The owl is a wise creature with a cunning mind. The term "bird brain" is simply demeaning to an animal of such high intelligence. This avian creature surpasses it's fellow flying friends in brainpower and it's ability to hunt small prey. They are considered to be more clever then even the average corvus corax. Even ancient greek civilizations recognized this animal's superb intellect, and it was regarded as the symbol of Athena, the goddess of wisdom. Today we still cast this animal in bright roles, for example, the owl in Winnie-the-Poo or Hedwig in the Harry Potter series. Owls are very vigilant and are able to turn their head in a full 360° rotation. Even when owls are at stand still, they are eager to gain more knowledge by observing the world around them. While in flight, these animals are very cautious to remain silent. Through their many hours of surveillance, owls know that loud noises will drive their prey into hiding. It can easily be said that owls are one of the most advanced bird species.

To those without a sufficient amount of knowledge, the previous paragraph might have been taken as truth.
The owl can truly be called a master of deception. Without any research in to how owls actually behave, one can go through a lifetime believing that owls are just naturally wise creatures. In truth, they are good at catching small prey and raising their offspring, but when it comes to cognitive intelligence, ravens and parrots are better students. Owls can be extremely difficult to train. To teach one successfully takes a strong bond between the teacher and owl, and a lot of patience. As for body structure, owls can only turn their heads in a 270° rotation (both ways) and have hollow wings enabling a silent flight. The illusion of the clever owl has been long lasting, mainly due to the fact that the smart owl stereotype is taught at a young age. (I revert back to the examples of Winnie-the-Poo and Harry Potter.) These ideas have only been supported by the myths of the Ancient Greeks.
