Isaac sighed and looked over the busy street below from his perch up on a rooftop, unseen by the bustling crowd as they went about their daily business, haggling over prices, talking loudly, chickens clucking in wooden crates, children running and screaming with delight as they dodged between vendor's carts and people's legs. Isaac watched this noisy chaos. He and his friends had traveled nearly two years so that people could live their lives like this. They had reactivated the Golden Sun, returning the life giving power of alchemy to the world. And many branded them villains for it.

The noise of the living, thriving marketplace was a testament to their hard work and friendship, yet the sounds and bustle annoyed Isaac nonetheless. Having traveled for so long, he found it hard to readjust to settling down and living a normal life, and even now found himself longing for his quiet cabin in the ruins of Mount Aleph. He readjusted the Sol Blade strapped to his back, then suddenly grinned wryly. The sword was proof of that. He felt helpless and incomplete without it nearby. Once, when he had first come home, he had left his sword at home at his mother's request when he went to a town gathering. He had been irritable the entire time, very unusual for him, and had kept reaching for his sword hilt when it wasn't there. Of course, it affected the others as well. He noticed that even peaceful Ivan rarely went about without his staff.

He sighed. They were more battle-scarred then they'd like to admit. He hoped there would soon come a time when they felt relaxed and safe enough to walk down the street without having to carry their weapon.

Suddenly, the noise of somebody trying to climb up onto the roof behind him made him whirl about, one hand instinctively on his sword hilt. He relaxed. It was Jenna, trying to clamber up onto the straw thatching.

He got up and walked over to the edge, extending a gloved hand. "Here." he said. "Let me help."

She took his hand gratefully. "Thanks." She scrambled up, and Isaac settled back down to his former spot overlooking the market.

Jenna, after a second, settled down next to him. She winced at the noise. "Kinda loud, isn't it?"

He merely nodded.

After a moment, she sighed, and turned to him, eyes troubled. "Isaac, do you think everything will ever be okay? The Golden Sun brought so much chaos into the world, monsters and natural disasters..."

He looked out over the marketplace. "I think so. Maybe not in our lives, but the world is definitely on the right track now." He looked at her, blue eyes reassuring. "What"s important is that the world will still be around for our children and great grandchildren. We saved the world, and we can still work on making it a better place."

Jenna gave a soft smile, and her hand moved to her growing stomach. "For our children..." she murmured.

Isaac gave her a proud smile. "And I"m going to make sure it"s the best world I can make for them."

Isaac is a fanpet, molded after the main character of the Golden Sun game, and father of the the main character of the Golden Sun: Dark Dawn. I"ve always been a fan of him, and was quite delighted to get him, even though his name isn"t truly Isaac, it"s spelled with a lower case L instead of an I. While I wrote the short dialog, Monarch was his original owner, and made him his lovely overlay. Integrity created his profile using official Golden Sun art, and I found the little Manga as part of a 4-Koma Gag Battle, and had to add it. I"ve also always been a fan of those water-spewing monsters in the mines. So adorable! Feel free to contact me if you have a Golden Sun related pet to add to his friends, or if you have an idea for his TC.
