Deus is one of the most powerful beings in the universe, the other being his twin brother Abzu. But where Abzu sought to use his power to maintain the balance in the universe, Deus was only concerned for himself, using his power mainly for his own entertainment. However, Abzu was able to trick his brother into a contract forcing Deus to also work towards maintaining the balance of the universe as Abzu did, but without the freewill Abzu had; Deus, used to acting only as he pleased, found himself forced to live lives, die deaths, and take actions all for some greater purpose. At first, Deus tried to fight it, tried to mess with things as much as he could even while being bound to do certain things, but eventually he starts to see how all the little things he's doing, lives he's living and taking, are making a difference.
