"What's dead should stay dead."

Those words rang out in the Ontra's head, the thoughts swirling and mixing in with the all the others that made up her migraine. The headache was very severe to say the least, and was made worst by the fact that she still couldn't open her eyes to figure out her surrounds. So far, all she was able to deduce was that she was lying on her back in the dirt in a very dark place. It felt sort of wet under the appendages of her fore paws and when she plucked some of it from the earth and smeared it between her thumb and index finger, it occurred to her that the ground must have been wet from the rain.
But how? she asked herself. If it had rained before she regained consciousness, she would have felt the water droplets pelting her fur - and that would have been enough to bring her back into the waking world.
With the paw she hadn't covered in mud, the Ontra brushed the fur on her chest. It was dry, so she could rule the rain guess out.
