The palace sprawls above the waters of Georgia Lake and a city occupies the space surrounding its towering walls. Whilst the palace remains an idyllic paradise, sheltered and bright, with palm trees and pools and beautiful birds that roam freely through the grounds, the city of Georgia Lake is a city at war with itself: an impoverished city in revolt.

Beneath the stunning white towers of the palace, and beside the hazy pink sunsets reflected in the glittering ocean, the slums of Georgia Lake are found. In stark contrast to the beauty of the palace, these are dangerous streets to live and entirely unbecoming of the city's beautiful name. There is widespread poverty. The class divisions are simple but sharp; there are those in the upper class and those in the lower class: you are either one of the rich or one of the poor. There is no in between. A corrupt government is lead by a blinded King, and the lower class suffers at the hands of their merciless rulers.

The streets are busy and the capital city is overrun with residents and travellers and rodents. Whilst the surface bustles with trade and barter, the sewers below house a secret base for the revolution. They call themselves the Moths and they are planning their attack.

Edie Malika is the princess and sole heir to the kingdom of Tide. Residing in the palace in the capital city of Georgia Lake, she is innocent and sheltered, not knowing or understanding the world outside of the palace walls. But this is the only life she has ever known.

She is however somewhat aware of her naivety and, like all princesses, she can't help but wonder what lies beyond the white walls of her beautiful prison. She is becoming bored, here. Bored of the boys that ask her to dance at balls, and bored of roaming the grounds like one of those dreary flamingos that so entertain her father.

Often, she looks at the tropical birds who share her cage and she wonders why they don't fly away from this paradise... until she begins to wonder the same about herself.

It is the summer equinox. Late in the evening, she finds herself at yet another lavish ball. She goes outside for fresh air: she is flustered and needs break from one especially relentless weasel who will simply not take no for an answer. Whilst she sulks on a marble bench, head in her hands, the Moths make their move. That is how it came to be that Edie Malika, Princess of Tide, went missing.

But she is the tiger remember! She is also not much like most damsels-in-distress.

She persuades one of the Moth rebels to act as her guide and return her to her father with the promise of great reward - his weight in gold. With his help, she can get from - well, wherever it is she actually is now - to Georgia Lake. This proves to be no simple task, and her journey causes her not only to grow as a person (coming of age?) but to see the effect of the corruption of the government and her family on the kingdom.

She falls in love with the Moth rebel and realises that he is in fact the leader of the rebellion. Though at first he was using her to get into the palace in order to overthrow the thrown, he too realises his feelings for the princess. And so she risks her status as princess, going underground and joining the Moths in their attempt to overthrow her father.

The rebellion is a success. She becomes queen, the Moth her advisor, and soon both the city of Georgia Lake and the kingdom of Tide begin to flourish under their joint rule.
