Though he kicked, fought, and screamed, the soldiers held fast, dragging Rudri to the stone tablet of the sacrificial alter, splaying him across its cold, hard surface and baring his face towards the closed eyes of the ancient evil machine that loomed over him. As its eyes opened, he was forced to stare into that menacing, draining gaze, and a scream was torn from his lips as it stole from him his very soul. Unable to watch the death of his friend, Leganos rose up and threw himself across the younger man, shielding him from the dark machine. A battle ensued between the older soldier and the guards, but Leganos was to be the victor. He stole Rudri away to the marshes to tend to the youth's broken form, but while the machine had not stolen all of Rudri's spirit, it had taken its toll.
No longer living nor dead, Rudri is caught somewhere in the middle, afflicted with a terrible undead disease that ravages his mind and body, extinguishing his flames and turning him into something more like a shadow of his former self. Black matter drips from his eyes, and he struggles to stay solid, often times taking the form of a long-bodied black cat-like ferret to conserve his energy. What's worse is that he is slowly losing his mind, warped by his sorrows, resentment, and the ever burning want for revenge. Leganos can only look on, putting out his own fire to adorn the marsh's colors instead so that the two may lurk in silence, waiting for their time to slay the King that did this to them, and to at last put Rudri's agonized soul to rest.
Personality Enraged by his torment, Rudri's personality has been split into two beings; the wilted, mournful, frightened shadow of his former self, and the fierce, angry, violent creature spawned by his demise. He struggles viciously with his morals and values, and though he haunts Leganos dutifully, he remains distant from all things living. Leganos is the only creature he trusts, and he is able to show his softer side, expressing glimpses of the soldier he used to be, but in the presence of others, he becomes aggressive, untrusting, and dangerous. He is prone to lashing out at those who get near, attacking them with his newfound ghostly abilities and screaming like a banshee. Slowly losing his sanity, he is also known to talk to himself, suffer from terrible delusions and nightmares, and occasionally fall ill from the black matter that now courses through his veins. In particular, he loathes all fire beasts, and if given the chance, he will kill them.
