Adopted 4-14-12 100 years ago Titanic hit an iceberg, and in the wee morning of April 15th 1500 people lost their lives when it sank
On the day of April 10, 1912 the most luxurious ship, Titanic was sailing from England to New York. Being the most largest ship afloat at the time, She held some of the most wealthiest people in the world at the time. Including Immigrants from New Britain and Ireland looking for a new home. Her nickname included of 'The unsinkable ship' but that quote did not meet the fate of April 14,1912. Colliding with an iceberg, tearing the bottom layer of metal off, letting icy waters bring her down. There were exact to date 2,228 people was aboard the beauty. The ship lacked the most important thing, life boats. The lifeboats could only hold half of the people on the ship. Letting women and children have their lives saved before the men. Some reports say, the captain cancelled the life practice earlier before the ship crashed. If he didn't cancel, many more lives would have been saved. The ship cracked and wailed in the waters bringing many lives with it. Including the Captain, Edward John Smith.
Out of the 2,228 aboard the ship only 708 survived to live the terror of the sinking. The last passenger to survive was Elizabeth Gladys Dean who was a mere couple months when the ship sank. She died in 2009 at the ripe age of 97. If the titanic never sank, life and history would have changed in a matter of seconds.
