Moonflower has a minion!

Morning Glory the Aura

You were the last of your siblings to emerge from your cocoon, a few days later than the rest. You woke to a night sky you hadn’t known existed until now.

You’d mistaken the stars for your kin, at first. They shimmered in tightly formed clusters, as if dancing. You were moved to join them. Your wings, still fragile and young, unfurled in a way that made you uncertain. However, a gentle, low breeze rustled through the forest just then. The wind lifted your small body and your wings unfolded without your instruction, carrying you. You knew then, your worries were for nothing. Like every generation before you, to fly was simply a part of you.

So, you flew, exhilarated. You contemplated how, before – when you were still young – you lived such an idyllic life. The moss that tickled your feet, delighted you. The sweet fruit you stuffed your mouth with was full of water. To think, there were wonders you were yet to know.

Unfortunately, you weren’t yet strong enough to fly far. Your new body, still too heavy for you, dragged you down. You landed on the petals of the nearest flower, disappointed in yourself. Luckily, you landed on a flower wet with a few droplets of dew. You sipped at one. It wasn’t as sweet as fruit, but it did lift your mood.

You peered up at the sky again.

You glimpsed a pixie descending from above. Its light blinked and faded. It disappeared into the bell of a faraway flower. After a moment, it reappeared, leaving behind its glow. Exhaustion forgotten in favor of curiosity, your wings started to flitter and you chased after it.

Your feet touched the white trumpet-shaped petals of the flower it blessed. Light seemed to emanate from its center. A breeze swept past. You braced yourself. It carried a rich, sweet fragrance that tickled your senses. You’re tempted to drink the nectar – and it seemed you weren’t the only one, as you noticed the shadows of other creatures gathering overhead – but shook yourself of the impulse. You must find the pixie, first.

You departed. You followed the trail of glowing flowers, taking frequent breaks at first. However, as your determination grew stronger, your wings steadied and you no longer cowered from the breeze.

When at last you met the pixie, you learned her name was Moonflower.
