Xeia's antisocial, often rude nature is born not of maliciousness, but more a lack of social awareness coupled with a fear of loss. After losing part of her immediate family to war, she withdrew into herself, cutting herself off from what few friends she had and veering dangerously close to self-destruction. It took her several years of absolute depression to try to turn herself around and live again.

Eventually she met and befriended Koben, a persistent and happy-go-lucky young man (at times annoyingly so, in Xei's opinion.) While he was perhaps not her first choice for a companion, the two have grown close over time; Ko satisfies Xei's need for affection and attention, his optimism providing the support that she so desperately craves, and she in turn is a source of stability for him, a shoulder to lean on that won't judge him for the insecurities that he tries so hard to hide. Their relationship remains entirely platonic, for which Xei is thankful; she has never had a romance that didn't crash and burn.

Although Xei has become more socially apt in some ways and has learned to confide in her friend, she still has trouble expressing much in the way of emotion. She only ever seems to come truly alive when showing off her talents in hand-to-hand combat or pyrokinesis; otherwise she is sarcastic, withdrawn, and cold, a stark contrast to the warmth of her natural element.
