Despite his namesake, Yakul will not be trained for battling.
He is instead joining the Subetan family, used for transportation purposes, as a result of Haluk leaving with Elfric to travel the world.

This won't make sense until I've lined all my ducks in their row.
For now, Haluk and Yakul are sharing a stable. ^.^

Yakul is an unusual member of his species, most notably for his docked tail and beautiful, spotless red fur.

He was born with the traditional neela tail, but most of it had to be amputated after an older, ornery buck targeted and bullied Yakul, effectively mangling and breaking the youngster's tail beyond salvaging. Qazim believes his older bucks instinctively bully genetically-unfit yearlings to maintain the best genome of the species. Castrated males are also commonly victimized by these same bucks.

Despite only having a nub for a tail, Yakul is able to jump higher and gallop faster than most other neela.

He enjoys swimming, chasing and playing with Haluk, and traveling around Subeta.
He's not fond of the Arctic Frost region, but will tolerate it.

Yakul is very in-tune with nature and forest spirits. He senses things others cannot see, feel or hear. He is instinctively-intelligent, and respects the Earth spirits.
