the female sweetheart kumos
character and pet property of Nobody
serenity hayes. twenty. female. american. smells like warm chamomile tea and fresh linens. the first thing you're bound to notice about serenity is the deep black circles around her eyes; a telltale sign of many sleepless nights. it seems like there is always something on her mind, though even if she's aware of what is troubling her, she never speaks of it.
she met her best friends - (lithium) and adelaide, the latter becoming her bunkmate - at the ??? inpatient care facility, where she wound up after a particularly bad bout of post traumatic symptoms and suicidal ideation. aside from looking tired all the time, she seems to have given up on the concept of living life at all, opting to let the world pass her by. she is quiet, passive, and morose.
serenity suffers from intense dissociation due to trauma, as well as frequent and unrelenting night terrors. due to all these stressors surrounding a necessary function, she suffers from acute somniphobia (fear of falling asleep). this leads to insomnia, which leads to irritability, a poor immune system, sleepiness, anxiety, and depression. she has previously struggled with addiction to sleeping medications, though has since switched to tea - which she admits doesn't work, but it comforts her.
on the off chance she manages to fall asleep for any period of time longer than ten minutes, she is often subject to fits of sleepwalking, where she appears completely dissociated from the world and behaves erratically. it is dangerous to attempt to wake her, as she can either become defensively violent, or fall into an intensive panic. it is best to lock her in the room and ignore her voice on the other side of the door until morning.
