silk and silence

BYS'SIN, BYS'SINE: adjective Made of, or resembling, silk; silken.

Byssin is a Ytivan artisan who specializes in matters of silk and satin, gorgeously handmade garments, accessories, and more, who takes a great deal of pride in their work. From a young age, they trained in the art of silkweaving and even sericulture, raising many of the caterpillars that they would then harvest for silk themself. Their decades of experience show in every bit of the process of making a silken piece, from its infancy to the finished product, and products made by their hand can and often do cost a high amount of SP, often in the tens of millions.

As a youth, they knew what they wanted to do when they grew up, and they took steps to make it happen, managing to apprentice themself to a master silkweaver and sericulturist as a young teenager, and studying both topics extensively before that. Before Byssin turned 18, the student had outperformed the master; by the time they hit drinking age a few years later, there was nothing yet to learn.

And yet, Byssin continued to improve their skills, outperforming their master but wanting more, wanting to learn and achieve more. So as they aged, they continued to learn and grow as both a silkweaver and a sericulturist, and eventually as a salesperson as well, selling their wares to raise SP to, well, afford to live, in addition to supplies needed for their work and their art.

Now, as a fully fledged adult as well as a bona fide master of silkweaving, Byssin's work can be found in the Subeautique as well as in numerous user shops and the cash shop. They are widely considered to be one of, if not the greatest silkweaver in all of Ytvia, if not Subeta as a whole.

Today, they continue their life's work, creating and selling their art, clothes, and more in various places around Subeta, especially during Neugarten. Outside of their career, they enjoy cold temperatures and cold food, pale colors, and a nice stiff drink from time to time.
