time to relax

you're stressed, have been for ages. work, family, friends, home life, romance, the world at large, all of it. stress. stress, stress, stress. you are stressed and you are tired. sometimes it feels like there's no respite from it all. you don't want to be stressed, of course, but... with everything going on, how could you not be?

one day, you get home from work. you shower, change into your comfiest pajamas, light some candles, dim the lights, and settle in with some nice hot tea with honey. notifications: off. email and calls: off. music AND headphones... on.

the music that swims through the headphones and into your ears is insanely relaxing; oxymoronic and hyperbole perhaps, but true nonetheless. you melt into your bed and let the tunes do the talking. or... the performing, since there are no lyrics here, just chill beats to relax to. finally.

you close your eyes and find yourself drifting, still and at peace... at least for a little bit. you cling to your favorite weighted plushie, snuggling into the pillows that surround you in a fortress-like positioning, making sure that nothing can harm you for now.

you sip some tea, drinking it down to the last drop over time, and continue drifting in the dulcet tones of the music, letting it carry you, chilling as best you can.

but all good things must come to an end; there's a knock at your bedroom door, there's mail for you, important by the looks of it. you sigh, taking your headphones off and pausing the music, unsure when you'll get back to it. but at least you had this time with it. and you can come back whenever you like... when you have time, that is.
