Reading Drive!
School is back in session and the time for books is NOW. After a long wait, Archie has agreed to put on the reading drive once more.
He's running things a bit differently this year, however! Archie claims that he has not held a reading drive in so long due to the overabundance of common books he received last time. As such, this year he's looking to only accept books you cannot restock.
But worry not, dear users, for Alexander is joining in on the drive this year, and is willing to give out points to those who complete his quests!
Archie will open up his shop in one week, so you better earn all the points you can before then!

First reading drive. I'm very confused though. Had over 400+ titles in my book gallery, and I was only able to donate 77? :/ Is there a list or a rarity scale that he's going by?
I still had points from the last reading drive that I havent forgotten to use. would have been nice if a notice had been given to use them up. I lost a lot of points for nothing,

I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I believe about 75% of the posts on here are people bitching and it gets old real fast. this is also only day 1.
I have also noticed that majority of people like to complain, first they were complaining we didn't have a reading drive and now that we do, there is more bitching because it got changed.

I said that there are still people who will have an upper-hand in this case; this time it's the people who happened to hoard non-RSable books, or special holiday currencies that they can use to buy non-RSable books. But that PALES in comparison to the people who hoarded RSable books, which are cheaper and much easier to obtain. This is a matter of choosing "the lesser of two evils," if you will.
Just look at all the people who are complaining about the number of books that they hoarded but CAN'T turn in, and you'll see the huge difference I'm talking about.
And as I pointed out, turning in books is not the only way to obtain points this time around. The staff added in Alexander's quests for this purpose. They understand that non-RSable books will get expensive; they've provided an alternative to allow people to actually participate. No, it's not going to give you a boat-load of points, but as I also said, this isn't a perfect situation. But it's the one that the staff felt was best. Keith said himself that the Reading Drive was changed because of the people who hoarded RSable books since the last drive. Yes, it's understandable that some people don't like the changes; but it's also understandable that those changes were made.

Well I won't be participating more than what I have as far as turning in books. I've turned in 45 books, which I bought with Vesnali tokens and steamworks trinkets that I had left. I don't earn SP that easily on here so I'll be hanging on to what I have. I'll do a few library quests here and there, but I tend not to have any luck on this site when it comes to getting the more rare prizes. Thanks for another event (I just have to say that I LOVED Epicon this year..and yes, I mean that!) and good luck to everyone that is choosing to participate. :)
Lol I'll just take the 25 books achievements and I'm done with turning books. I think that if someone turn in 600 books, he/she'll lose a lot of sP he/she could earn selling those :/

After how screwed over I was for my efforts I put into epicon, I'm not feeling busting ass or throwing away this much sP. Library quests are EXPENSIVE AS FUCK already, now everyone doing them to score one measley point will drive it up even further. Who the hell on staff thought this was a good idea? Do you hate us users or just want us to hand over our cash out of the frustration this creates? I seriously hate subeta for this right now.
I feel like a lot of people are complaining without even trying first? If there are less points overall then it's pretty safe to say that the items won't cost as much as past RD items have. That an Alexander's quests are SUPER profitable I mean hello I've only done 15 of the quests and I've already gotten 5 books that will each sell for 500k or more. Believe it or not there are affordable non-restockable books as well, you don't have to spend THAT much to get a decent amount of points.
I'm wondering though, will GA users get 10 extra points with their 10 extra quests, or no? That info would be useful because I guess I should figure out if it's worth it for me to go purchase one for this event or not (a 1 week GA is not that expensive to buy with sP for those people bawww'ing that they cannot spend RL money on one).

idk why everyone is so upset. I didn't really hoard, I only spend 500k yet I submitted 110 books already.

I didn't hoard anything but I don't have the time or the fucking sp to buy a bunch of non-restockable books, what I did last reading drive was just pump tokens into the vending machines for the books because I don't have sp to spend on a shit ton of books that I'm just going to chuck in the drive and then they're gone forever. I read most of the non-restockable books to my pet because I need the high intelligence, I can't be hoarding those to give to some NPC what the fuck. Library quests are also like some of the worst on the site. To hell with it, I'm trying to save sp up not drop 250k for one RD point over and over again.
If anyone is confused, books that you can't restock mean books from the cash shop, from the token shop, books that are game prizes, holiday items, alchemy items, genetech items, stuff like that
It really is kind of baffling that the don't want us to turn it common books. Less common books out of the systems is better for the economy, isn't it...?
I don't understand a word, sorry (other than the non restockable books for the RD). And were are my old points - I didn't spend a single one, because the drive would always use the left over books again for the next?

This is going to be expensive lol. Well I'll just do the quests to the best of my ability .Also a little happy to find a few relatively cheap books Archie will accept in my vault. It would kill me to turn in the expensive ones so I won't be doing that. ^_^

Many non-buyable books you can get are from past events, so the only way you'll only have then is if you were there to collect/hoard them. Those are the books that were collecting dust on people's vaults anyways. I'm sure the people who hoarded restockable books hoarded these ones too

On the other hand, if someone joins the site this week then well that is too bad for them, they can't get most of those books unless they buy it from the shops

The point values for previous reading drives has nothing at all to do with this one. Old points are being kept separate from this one, which says to me that there will probably be a new shop. It might be changed drastically, like the EPICon shop was, so that people get less points overall but items cost less points than previous years.
Well. This will be interesting. = I guess I'll just muck up my tokens and such. I don't even know how to participate in this. /shrugs. I hope the prizes aren't things that I need for TCs. Eh. We'll get over it. ♥️

beside questing wont give you much, you most certainly wont be able to fulfill all 30 quests and even 30 points a day, for a week, wont quite cut it if you look at what points people could get in former reading drives

You people complaining that you can't use your hoarded books for this year's Reading Drive don't seem to realize that you are the EXACT REASON that the Drive needed to be changed.
By hoarding books ever since the last RD, you'd have an incredibly unfair advantage this time around. And yet I see so many people whining about how only accepting non-RSable books gives some people an "unfair advantage." What you're really complaining about is that YOU don't get to be the one who has an unfair advantage. Admittedly, yes, there will always be a group that has a slight upper-hand, but by setting up the RD the way they did this year, the staff tried to make it so that more people had to actually, you know, PARTICIPATE in the event, instead of just dumping off the truckloads of books that had been collecting dust in their vaults all this time in anticipation of the event.
It is not impossible to earn points, so don't complain (Alexander's quests were added in for a reason!). Events are SUPPOSED to have a certain level of challenge to them; stop whining just because you can't take it easy this year with your aready-stocked-up pile of books.

I don't understand how this solves the hoarder problem. The only way to have any non-rsable books to turn in is to hoard them, or buy them from someone who did.
Well there goes most of the books I've been hoarding since the last drive. I had been collecting any and all books - most restockable. I wish the books I turned in previously were already put toward the achievement because it was a lot, but whatever. I'm sure you guys have your reasons. :I
