Fine Fabrics

Are you one for the finer things in life? If you are, then Fine Fabrics, the newest shop to open at Shengui Guo’s Floating Market, just might be the shop for you! Jogoh makes all the clothing by hand, and each and every piece is of the highest quality. All you need to do is pick a color and layer and choose what piece of clothing you\'d like.
Be aware that it takes time to craft clothing this nice, but rest assured that Jogoh will get to work right away, and she\'ll always let you know exactly how long it\'ll take!
Just a note: You can only have five orders going at once!

@Raze
Oh yeah it COULD be in the news post itself, you're right. Hmm I wonder if they intend to NPC her and if not, how do they decide which shopkeeper gets NPC'd and which doesn't. <.<

it's fine, I didn't need all those si anyway... at least my wardrobe will be happy, haha
@Frankenchokies
I was thinking more along the lines of that in the future it might be Jogoh herself making the news post about her shop and that would be how we see the character quirk demonstrated. Then if it's shown to be in-character for her it would make sense to leave her story in her shop blurb. I actually hadn't noticed her apology for babbling when I skimmed through her shop text, so you pointing that out leaves me hopeful that the babbling really might be more natural behavior for her character :D
I'm actually sort of disappointed that this news post isn't from Jogoh herself. Wesley is another more recently created NPC and he already had an NPC account to make news posts when Go Outside opened. If her back story that's in her shop text was coming from her in this news post instead then that would have been the best way to give us her back story IMO. Having the story in-shop comes across as potentially odd (if it isn't part of her character to be so open and talkative) because it's like you're just one individual walking into a shop and then the person behind the counter, unprompted, launches into telling you their life story. If it was in the news post I could picture some annoying news producer behind the Camera encouraging her to tell more about herself.

@Hoshi
Exactly right. Of course it doesn't work the other way around. We don't feel like this character is slamming cisgenders do we, but if Fantine had a long conversational diatribe in her shop about how she was born a girl and how that's exactly how she always felt and everyone in her family accepted her for it, would that be pushing a cisgender agenda and offensive to everyone not a part of that group? Oh my yes. XD Double-standards are never fair, and reacting to a double-standard negatively doesn't mean you're reacting to the trans him- or herself and thus are some kind of foaming, raving, trans-hater. That's why putting this character's speech in the Subetapedia would've been more natural and less wtf.
UNLESS!
If like @Raze supposes it turns out that this is a specific character quirk, that this character goes into wildly long passages about her personal life every time we come by AND it changes regularly (like monthly even), then that would be far less ham-handed, more natural, and also funny. She DID say sorry for babbling, like it's a thing with her, so maybe her dialogue WILL change later on? That I'd actually be interested in, to see what kind of personal, out-of-place ramblings she gets into while makin' my clothes. XD
Anyway my main problem is that her head seems drawn a bit small for her body. Mostly the bottom part, the jaw/back-of-the-head bit. And her forearms are thicker than her neck which doesn't seem... how it should be. <.<

Man, I wasn't aware there was any controversy over three paragraphs of flavour text.
1) It's her prerogative how out she wants to be about being transgender at any given time,
2) It's her shop, she can say whatever the hell she wants,
3) I would frankly listen to anybody's entire life story for clothes as gorgeous as these.

I think it's cool that you can browse by color and layer and submit an order. But a little disappointed some of the items aren't very accurate as most of the "grey" items are really cream and pink and the blue arms are actually purple/lavender. Here's hoping they come out with prettier colors later. :)
lol @ the popularity of the unnecessarily snarky "cry moar cis ppl" comment. The fact that this single shopkeeper opens with paragraphs about her personal life (especially regarding an issue most people aren't comfortable speaking to strangers about at all) is out of place, and marks her as Different - which is the opposite of the normalizing effect representation is partially intended to achieve, isn't it? Pointing out a discrepancy doesn't mean anyone's trying to make her transgenderism go away. Jaxon and Ian's respective pages don't say "btw I'm boning a dude" - Emma and Esther don't mention anything about each other either - but I assure you us LGB members have survived just fine regardless.
I love this shop. I agree that the Life Story would be better suited to a Subetapedia article but also don't mind that it's there should staff decide to keep it as is. I don't actually have personal stock in the issue aside from my dislike of social justice kids with sharper tongues than wits.

OMG - truly beautiful items - if such a shop existed near my home I would be constantly broke, even going so far as to beg on street corners!
So much beautiful clothing u
At first, I was kinda in agreement with those saying that having her just lay out her life story on her shop page seems a bit out of place. I think the representation is great and it's good to make it known and visible to the user base, but putting it there feels a little unnatural for how a shopkeeper would behave. Like most people wouldn't lay all that information on you when you first meet them? BUT, upon thinking it over more, I really hope this becomes a recurring thing in future interactions with her.
Like it could be really fun and make her having her life story on her shop page seem less out of place if it was a character quirk of her's she's always so direct and long-winded about things she's proud of. Next time new items are released in her store she could go into a whole spiel about her inspiration for that particular clothing line. Or she could go of into a long tangent about how it annoys her that other Shengui Guo Ren are so reserved and isolationist and how passionate she feels about wanting to share their beautiful culture with the world~

This is what I've dreamed would happen for the Zombie Apothecary, but better! The setup for purchasing is awesome and you know exactly what you are going to get! Awesome!

How strange, all my SP seems to have magically transformed into piles of clothing.
How very mysterious. I'd better keep a hold of it, just in case.

Forever rolling my eyes at the people who act like Jogoh's little blurb about her life is really ~too much~.
So sorry that you had to endure an extra two little paragraphs so that the trans and non-binary users on this site could feel the TINIEST bit of representation (which makes a world of difference).
How will Subeta ever repay you for those 30 seconds of your life that it so cruelly snatched away? Oh, the injustice of it all!
In all seriousness though, the items are beautiful and I love the little spin on each of the Shengui Guo shops. And thank you Staff, from the bottom of my heart, for giving us a canon trans NPC who is super open about it from the beginning.

This shop is eating all of my sP and i'm good with that.
Thank you for this shop and these gorgeous clothing items!

. . . joining others in saying how great it is that subeta now has a trans NPC! Very very cool. :)

i have a strange request hehe. i was wondering if jogoh's hair could be made available for sale as a wig? it's sooooo gorgeous!! <3

I ways already loving Shengui Guo because I loved the lil plot to find it, but every new addition is better than the last imo. This shop is my new favorite (RIP in peace sbq) and I want to hug everyone involved.
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to say goodbye to my money.

I love the whole concept of this shop, it's pretty amazing!
So far I'm really liking the Floating Market shops a lot! :D

Quote by Mouse:
Maybe add a little "Talk to Jogoh" button under the NPC image? Since the shopkeepers article only has "fun facts".The items are really, really pretty and I like that there's a trans character but... if I walked into a shop and I got the shopkeeper's life story like that I would be very overwhelmed and I would probably nope out. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: All that info would probably fit much better into a Subetapedia article.
@Amber

I actually like having her life story right on the page. With some of the other NPCs, I forget who they are. I think having her info right there gives more depth to the store. It feels more like I'm really walking in and talking to a real person, compared to the NPCs that only have one line.

I was so taken in by the pretty items (NONCW KIMONOS FOR BANA FINALLY!), and then I read the shopkeeper's description and freaking squealed.
Kudos to you all for not only giving us pretty clothes, but giving us a wonderful trans*woman.

Erm...I just now saw the red Ornate head piece. Why I didn't see it before...LOL! XD BUT I think there are sets missing pieces, though, so will that be coming? @Amber
@Amber sorry for the double ping. I had another question coming up. Will all sets be eventually complete? The red Ornate set doesn't have an Ornate head piece for example.

I didn't bother looking at the shop description until just now and I'm actually tearing up.
Thank you for adding a trans* npc. This makes me so happy.

20 bucks says if they hadn't established her being trans, people would have clambered to shriek she was "too established to change her story" once they got around to giving her a proper background.

@Sasuke I make male HAs and I think some items would work well - for instance, the Cotton Shirts, Silken Tops, and Silken Slippers. As well as most of the waist items and the hats. I do make a lot of feminine male HAs, though, so YMMV. The thing is, I think traditional Asian men's fashion isn't as "masculine" as traditional Western men's fashion, and this is clearly based on Asian fashion, so... I have to say it'd be nice to see some pants though. I occasionally make HAs with skirts or dresses, but not often.
