Learn to Bake
Are you prepared to become a baking champion? Or perhaps just learn enough to not burn everything you touch? Come visit me at my new bakery in Veta Lake, which will be open year-round, to learn how different cookies, pies, loaves of bread, and cakes!
As you cook more things and earn more experience, your level in baking will go up. As you level up, more recipes will be unlocked for you, meaning they will no longer show up greyed out on the front page! Once you get more experienced, when you go back to cook easier recipes, you’ll have a much higher success rate. After all, we know how hard baking a new thing can be, so don’t be surprised if you end up burning a thing or two!
I’ve prepared a lovely baking starter kit for everyone. I’ll make sure to give you one when you visit me for the first time!

Just so you know, burning has nothing to do with the timing of each baked good! Burning is tied to your skill level, not how long it takes you to grab a baked good from the oven. ;)

@pumpkins Yes, we’re tracking things. And the achievements I’m thinking of doing are like hit level x or whatever, SO IT’S GOING TO BE OKAY C:
@?StarShadow You don’t need to make everything right this second. :) This feature will stick around, so if you want to do one baked good a day or maybe gather some ingredients up first and then try to knock out a few things then you can do that! Don’t give up <3

@StarShadow: I completely agree with you. Why does everything have to be in the hundred-thousands? I think I even saw something that was almost a million sp! And another item wasn't even available anymore!! It's like a monopoly or something; and what's even more frustrating is the fact that I apparently need to get ALL the ingredients that are listed, whereas my first impression was that we could do an either/or recipe. They should really clarify that.

Well, this seems to be more frustrating than fun. The prices of items is too high to waste SPs buying them now, it's nearly impossible to get the exact items I need from the DC despite constant refreshing and on the rare occasion I can the cookies always burn. That plus the constant error pages last night and the lag this morning is making me want to give up.
Cool idea, but holy inflation. Will try to remember to try it months from now when everyone has forgotten about this feature lol (I didn't want to open my starter kit 'cause that's going in the gallery)

also, what I didn't mention earlier, being a devoted RS-er, I like me some inflation. :P but honestly, I hope the inflation will like ... nicely balance between things? like, at some time something is inflated, some other thing deflated and so. XD and the price for vanilla extract rn miiight be too much, yes.
@TheseHeights Oh sorry, I didn't realise! Only rereading now do I see you figured it out before I posted. Should have checked, sorry! But yeah, that's one of my favourite parts of the Custom CSS. It's a pain but oh well.
This is a fun but brief feature but the inflation always ruins stuff like this.. I wish there was a way to do something similar without it, or at least with a lot less of it. Hopefully RS-ability will continue to power through this so it's reasonable by the time I get around to it.
Also it'd be cool if we could tie pets to these skills (optionally). Your Alchemy/Alchemy Assistant Pet, Baker/Baker Assistant Pet, etc.

@far We might actually do some vegan options in the future! :) Honestly though, I’m are the prices for the regular items needed will go down once the items start restocking more / people move up levels / the “newness” wears off / etc.

I'm sad that you get absolute ZERO experience from burning what you make. Of course I'd expect gaining exp from making something successfully, but could you please make it so that you earn at least little bit of experience even if you burn it? (That's how it works in real life, too--learn from your mistakes!)
It's just super disheartening to know that you just wasted all these ingredients for pretty much nothing. :(

@TheseHeights I don't know if you fixed your blank page already, but I had it too and searched this news post for the term 'blank' and found your post, and I have a potential solution I figured I'd share. I had some CustomCSS which I believe takes away pet training portraits that was giving me the blank page. It's 7 lines and starts as "#content > div.container-fluid > div.ui.grid > div.four.wide.column". If you have this, cut it into a spare document while you bake, and then put it back in when you're done baking. Not very elegant, but that's how it is with new features sometimes.
this is everything i've ever wanted, really. <3 ingredient based cooking/baking. maybe we can now also use this with like crafting? flower crossbreeding? soooo many options and possibilities. :? pretty please! and thank you so so so much.

Haha yeah, and like a derp It seems I missed all but one item in my grab earlier. So waiting for me it is as well. I dont think itll matter if we are a bit behind though. This isnt a 'event' but a new addition to the site like Alchemy thatll be around for a long while. So that made me feel better about having to sit around on my hands and wait for more items to flood the system -flops-

@Taters Thanks for at least reassuring that the items were in there at one point, at least! That gives me some hope. All I ever see is a handful of the same things, and I've been slowly grabbing duplicates since I'm not seeing the ones I still need, but you're right. I probably should just give in and give it a few days even though I'll be behind even further for it.

Thankfully they are rs-able. Ive caught quite a few, and Amber lowered the rarity so they show up more. But if you cant catch those the hype should die down in a day or two and people will begin to price reasonably. For the moment I say stock up on whatever you see and hope to catch some good rs times until the prices deflate!

Cool idea but not possible. The set of ingredients to make the first Maple cookie are up to RIDICULOUS. One set of items I will not be getting.
You know, I don't actually mind sitting and browsing the DC for the ingredients as an alternative to paying the highly inflated prices in user shops.... But... I'm less enthused upon several hours of refreshes and not finding some of the ingredients to even get past the first recipe. :'c Are all the ingredients actually available there? (I.e. am I wasting my time.)
With all the ingredients coming in, I was really hoping for something like this! I've made my first cookie successfully :)

I like to imagine the creators of this are thinking of multiple lvl 1 baked goods. But then seeing normal-common items inflate out the butt and seeing everyone scramble for them is too much fun to resist, hehehe.
Though thankfully most of them seem pretty easy to rs.
