Fall Composting!
Head over to the Recycle Beast Composting Heap (say that five times fast...), and read further here for how this works.
The Recycle Beast is taking a lot of items, and you can easily browse and see what items you can expect the recycle beast to take. Hopefully this level of detail makes it easier for you to jump right in to features like this (and we'll continue to do this going forward!)
There are two trackers on the main composting page, the 🥇 solo and 🌎 community tracker. Each item you compost (maximum 50 per day) will count toward both of these trackers.
The composting heap prizes are also split into the two categories.
🥇 solo prizes are items, and you can choose the same item with each tier (50, 100, 250, 1000), or choose a different item. You can choose the book each time! I'm particularly excited for the 🌽
🌎 community prizes are attached to your account, and each redeemable once, but you can choose the order! Things like title bundles, avatar borders or a new category of cosmetic: Reactions!

Ngl I'm very confused. He's taking a lot of stuff I can't seem to find on his list, like candy skulls and spider blubs and lollipop bundles.. as far as I can tell by his official list, he doesn't want any of the non-gourds.. x_x

Since I've chosen, I can't find out, which are new and which old, but yeah, the community points will still go up, hopefully.

not sure if others are having same issue or not but
weve hit 3 goals, Ive claimed 3 prizes(skin, titles, mark) only 2 are saying claimed and took the points, the skin isnt one of those(its check marked as owned in the wardrobe, BUT not the prize page) I want to get it marked as claimed and the point gone before I take another. I do have a ticket in already and was told it was glitchy at the start, but want to not be seen as 'abusing a glitch' and end up having gotten the skin free

Feedback on the kumos version of news comments:
- paginating comments is very tiring for the user just trying to get some quick and useful info (although I do understand the need for a limit so things actually load!)
- 15 comments per comment page is way too few - maybe try 100? 200?
- having to reload the entire page and be booted to the top of the news post each time you try to swap pages is exhausting and I gave up quickly
- liking a comment now takes 2 steps and is a little slow to load, so having a default ‘like’ button and then a ‘react’ button to select a more interesting reaction would be awesome!

I like the other Recycle Best better, where I can donate as much as I want and buy as much as want with my points - always, with exception of a few seasonal items.
@Reaper Ah, ok, thank you! Hopefully re-releases will be clearly distinguished from new prizes in the future. Normally I'd check before making a big decision but I got caught up in the excitement lol. You're right though, I suppose I won't really be missing out on anything. I only just realized you could only claim the community prizes once (I totally would have gone for some extra referral points otherwise).

I think a lot of them were older and/or retired. Pretty sure I had all/most already but also you can only claim once on each of the community tiers and based on today alone...we will hit all 5 community tiers before the end of the event. You didn't waste it as there's only 5 options and 5 tiers - you just maybe selected something you could've left to last.

I knew some sort of composting was coming based on some of those item descriptions. I have to say...I'm actually pretty okay with this. My only small issues are that I wish it took more of the holiday items that weren't food/doubled as food (so many rag dolls and plushies I do not need) and that the Corn is multi-use when I need several but I also need all of the other items and therefore cannot select several of the corn if I want the others lol. Also I appreciate the daily cap thing so nobody is feeling like they have to go hard to donate it all today. Do wish we had more than 20.5 days to hit the max but I should hopefully be able to make sure I do this daily haha.
o.k., so available now compostable items in our inventory show up (out of those 1616 items). I found out, because I had some pumpkins in my invy... Still hard to go through that huge list for items you want to recycle, if none incidentally happen to come to your inventory, like now with the floating pumpkins...
And I claimed my 1st book... So if I do this daily, I can juuust get enough books until Nov. 17th...

I have a question: were some of the titles in the title bundle prize new, or were they all old ones being re-released? I just assumed they were new and grabbed the bundle, so I didn't check whether I actually needed them. I hope I didn't waste a prize point on something I didn't need.

I love this new feature ❤️. But it does look like it will be very pricey to buy the items to compost with 😢
Re my earlier comment, went back and it said I have 3 community prizes to redeem, and this time the skin worked. Which matches since right now the community bar is just under 20k.
This would have been really amazing if the event start in the beginning of morostide, not now that i already fragmentize almost all my repeated items xD

@Garnet You've been around for long enough to know that when we launch a new feature here on subeta.net it makes the entire site slow for two days. I'm working on the kumos speed, and we have a lot, lot, lot more levers to make it blazing fast than we have legacy subeta. I promise I want to make improvements to make that feel like home

Really great idea for a fun new feature, missed it on the execution. The new Subeta is so frustratingly slow to load on desktop and mobile that it turns me off of wanting to engage with it much.

Yes, my computer was actually set to dark mode. Changed it to bright, waited, hard refreshed Kumos, changed themes again, background stays black
I tried all themes before posting. Only the header picture will change, the rest of the page stays the same on a black background.
However, "Compost your items" only shows 5 kinds of pumpkins anymore, I guess that's more like intended...

@RenChi Not neurotic at all, just have a detailed eye! Lots of that should get improvements over the next couple of days / weeks as most of my attention is paid in this direction. Those little things annoy me too (and my boyfriend of 10 years is a designer, he cringes when he looks over my shoulder!) and should be getting refined now that these big systems are out the door!
This is so exciting...a new feature and an opportunity to see the Kumos site in action! And I love my lil' rave demon friend! The only thing I'm not happy about is having to choose between getting all the prizes or getting duplicates I need. I guess I'll always have to shell out the big bucks for extras when we have prizes awarded like this. That's extra irksome when they're multi-use items - being forced into hard decisions isn't fun. On the bright side, that is to say all the prizes are great and I want everything!

I understand the growing pains people are experiencing with the Kumos site (I have gone through more than a few frustrating website overhauls) but if it's going to be the main home of Subeta in the future, I think it's good to slowly introduce Kumos-exclusive features so that people have some incentive to get acclimated early. I feel like it will make the eventual big move easier!

I love community activities :) It was a little weird to go to the kumos site!! But I got my 50 items donated, and like Bliss, when I went back again it says I have donated 0/50. I also claimed and received my indivdual prize as well as 3 community prizes.

As mentioned in the news post, there are two types of prizes. If you've turned in 50 items today (and you can see the items you can turn in, it's linked to in the post, on the page, and multiple times in this thread) you can choose one of any of the solo items. If it helps to imagine it like currency, you got one coin. You get a coin when you turn in: 50, 100, 250, 500, 1000 items. The solo prizes cost one coin, and you can choose any of them, as many times. So you could get the book five times! These prizes will come back in the future, so just prioritize the ones you want now.
The community prizes come from everyone turning in items together, and these are prizes that aren't items (and will come back around!) so you shouldn't feel like you're missing out. It's the same deal, you can choose any prize, but these can only be redeemed once. These give you one 'community coin' (these aren't real currencies, but that's basically how it works) at 1000, 5000, 10000, 25000, 50000 items turned in, which admittedly I may have undershot haha. Will need to set much higher goals next time, or add more prizes.
The exciting thing here is that this can be built on easily, with points being given for doing more than just turning in items, but other things around the site, as they get moved over. Hopefully we'll be able to show this getting built up over the next few holidays.
As for the black screen, that sounds like a bug completely. Is your computer in dark mode? It might be picking up that setting for the site, but only that setting (and applying other things on top). If you set the theme to 'morostide' from the picker at the bottom, does that look more natural?
