Fall Composting!
Head over to the Recycle Beast Composting Heap (say that five times fast...), and read further here for how this works.
The Recycle Beast is taking a lot of items, and you can easily browse and see what items you can expect the recycle beast to take. Hopefully this level of detail makes it easier for you to jump right in to features like this (and we'll continue to do this going forward!)
There are two trackers on the main composting page, the 🥇 solo and 🌎 community tracker. Each item you compost (maximum 50 per day) will count toward both of these trackers.
The composting heap prizes are also split into the two categories.
🥇 solo prizes are items, and you can choose the same item with each tier (50, 100, 250, 1000), or choose a different item. You can choose the book each time! I'm particularly excited for the 🌽
🌎 community prizes are attached to your account, and each redeemable once, but you can choose the order! Things like title bundles, avatar borders or a new category of cosmetic: Reactions!

The search doesn't seem to be working right, it says there are results, but I can't see them. The icons are also bunched up really weird unless I zoom out to 50 percent or less, and I'm on a laptop, not a phone.
@Amber thank you for the info. Let me go in my vault and look for other items. :) I hope this new feature becomes a permanent one here on the site!
Thank you, Keith, for trying to help! I can change the theme, which will only alter the top bar, but the background stays black and I see no way to change it. Naturally l miss all my widgets on the sidebar...
Where is the explanation to all this? Costs of the items? How much is the book? It says: Available Community Prizes 2 prizes available to claim. How, why, from what?

I've hardly slept in 2 days, because too much life but want to do my dailies and Morostide here... I don't have time nor wish to need to do something off site...

No hovers on the items shown except name, no account search... So I need to account search here? And then, what? I'm just lost and I am out. If only I didn't need 20 of those books...

I'm trying to be patient here, but it's clearly not my strong suit. :P. I have done 50 items, but my progress says 2/50 items to next solo prize, and I am unable to claim anything, and unable to compost any more items.

There a lot of other items you can donate @-HyperBlossom- if you don't want to compost your pumpkins! Fantine will still ask for pumpkins come Fireside, and we thought about that when setting up all the foods the morostide compost would accept!
urgh still not quite vibing with having to use the new site. everything is squished to the right of the screen instead of taking advantage of the whole page width... maybe once the layout is improved to be less claustrophobic and anxiety-inducing...
as for this feature in particular, i think clicking anywhere inside the item box (including the image) should select it, not just the item name or checkbox itself. also a way to see how many out of 50 you've selected that stays with you as you scroll the page, since it took until i got to the bottom to realize i'd somehow selected 52...

Interesting new mechanic, but I'm kinda against it. Do you give the Beast other items or just the pumpkins on the vine? I'm upset about this because I save all my pumpkins during Morostide, so I can give them all to Fantine for Fireside.
I mean don't get me wrong I love all the community events and challenges, plus there's like 10 different pumpkins floating around Subeta we can just catch.

or maybe im going crazy and i actually only had 2 pumpkins cause now its displaying them as individual items. maybe i just thought i had the whole stacks out
not sure where to post this and havent read all the comments yet but im pretty sure having stacks of items for composting it takes the whole stack and doesnt count them all. I had around 8 pumpkins in my inventory (two different kinds) and clicked each pumpkin on the composting page, my initial thought was oh man will i have to do them one at a time because the UI didnt display it was a stack. but instead both the stacks gone and it says i only donated 2

@DryadGurrl Have you tried resetting your password? It mentions it on the page itself, but if you haven't reset your password in the last year, it's using an old encryption method that needs to be updated.
I don't know if this question was asked, but, will the items change daily, or will the item remain tje same? :)
I still only get 500 Server Error whenever I try to log in on the new site, and I know we'll be moving over there eventually, and it'll be sad that I can't go too because it doesn't work for me (on chrome or on firefox OR on my phone)
Is there a problem with the cache? It said I had 15 items left to do. Gave it 15 more pumpkins, and it still says 15 to do. :(

I'm bringing up an additional kumos server, it wasn't easy to anticipate what this traffic was going to look like. Another thing we have to do for now is reset the cache every ~15 minutes because it gets out of sync with the main site. At some point, we'll be able to reverse that, and it'll be a huge speed boost!
Anyway: Enjoy choosing your prizes, and remember that these are composting prizes! The recycle beast is likely going to need composting of specific other holiday items in the future, and the prizes available will most likely only grow ;) This just gives us another tool in the toolkit for getting out items for a sink.

I love this! Love having both solo and community parts to the event and having the "pick the order of your prizes" thing! Would totally love to see pet slots end up released through something like this ;) Kumos is moving a bit slow atm, just fyi. It all went through for me though :)
I really enjoy this - so far.
It's a bit difficult since the other site's links and whatnot is like... HUGE and takes up a lot of space and website acts broken. It's taking in the pumpkins just fine but it's hard to claim the two community prizes. Slowness I'm sure is cause of the traffic so that's not too bad.

@BoaConstrictor It sounds like there might be a bug for you, but also if you go to https://kumos.subeta.net and browse to the bottom of the page, there is a selector, you can choose a different theme that might not load so poorly for you?
And yes, we're going to be (finally) starting to transition features to (yes, another) site. It's much, much easier to build on and you can see from the things launched on it just in the last few days:
- New Outfits / Saved Avatars Page: A way to browse saved avatars from all of the other users (and your own), set a new privacy setting (with the default being unlisted now) and the ability to give hearts and thumbs up to avatars!
- The work to get those avatar outfits touched up in the database let us build the new wearable item usage page that displays some interesting item details, that we can easily build on!
And this composting feature, where we can easily pop in a pool of items (https://kumos.subeta.net/details/location/1 and list them all!) that are being requested and, on a timer, give out items - this will be the foundation of rebuilding some of our oldest holiday features.
Some exciting things the kumos site unlocks:
- Rewriting our old flash to very very basic javascript games becomes much easier
- Quick building of most of our 'click and do things' pages because we've created the building blocks

Fun item sink idea! Keen for the 'select all' button.
Joining those hoping that these items are either rereleased or that there are ways to obtain multiples, as in more than 5 items total. The corn is already 2 slots and I would like as many books as possible, plus one of everything else! Happy to divest the site of many, many items to get them.

A little glitchy at the moment. Had to log out and log back in a couple of times to get it to work. And cosmetics arent loading, so even though i've claimed the new border I can't use it. The compost feature could be a fun way to get rid of seasonal junk piles when everything is working better though.

I don't understand a word... So the Recycle Beast has 2 places now? Why?!?!???
And I absolutely hate that black Kumos site/layout. Really don't want to do anything/be there. As well as have no desire to play on 2 sites?

Right now we're around 8300 community donations, so I should have 2 community prizes, right? I've only claimed the Currency Bundle and it says I'm back to having 0 prizes to claim. https://imgur.com/a/0Xy0T1X
Oh this is a really cute way to create an item sink! It'd be cool to see this come back for Neugarten and Vesnali as well.

This seems fun. The composting page desperately needs some sort of numerical input (or better yet a 'max amount of item' button), though; clicking fifty times is not much fun, and the multi-second lag on the 'items selected' counter makes it easy to go over the limit and have to scroll back and forth unchecking items.
