Profits were announced for 2007 and Claw Vending Co was in the red :(. To try and combat this (instead of closing down) they upped the prices to use their vending machines to 4 tokens. :(

Pfft. Wow. I thought that it was fine before. I stopped vending because it was leaching up my tokens. Now I probably won't more than once every couple months. Which is only half as often as I did before this change... Hm.

after spending 200 tokens in the vending machine i think i'm done wasting my time, effort and tokens on the machine. to get only crap from them means its worthless.
I dunno, I was mad at first because the vending was how I made most of my money. Before the prise rise I've found other ways to get money by doing other quests though. I'll still gamble with the vending m., it's fun, but I won't be using them as much, which is sad because I did think they were really fun.<br />
<br />
There's still other profits quests, people. I earn quite a bit from the Cursed Quests. <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" />

I can't believe this. I took a hiatus from Subeta because it was starting to go downhill. Now I come back, thinking 'Hey, it might've got better.'<br />
Boy was I wrong. Have you taken into consideration all the people who make their Subeta income from vending? Now it is nearly impossible to make a good profit from vending. Not all of us are amazing restockers, y'know.

This is a bad bad bad bad bad bad bad Idea. I mostly get junk items from the vending machines. And its Not worth paying 4 wiz tokens for the same stuff I got for two.
Well - figured I'd check the OD and see if there was any difference in the value of the items - not yet, apparently. Granted, I only spent about 76 tokens total, but no item I received was worth 4 tokens.
I agree with some of the other users in that a cap on the number of times you can vend from each machine would work wonders for the economy. Quests have limits, they've always had limits as has any other games on the site that puts items into the economy. I suggested this a long time ago and got seriously yelled at, lol. I probably will now but with so many complaining about the increase in prices maybe a limit on the number of times would be better than an increase in price because an increase in price per vend will only work until the prices in shops level out to meet the items coming into the system and more people start over vending again. I whole heartedly agree that something needs to be done about the vending machines though and that any change will be better for the economy.

Very bad idea. That's all I'm going to contribute to the situation seeing as others have already pointed out very logically what is wrong with this.

I don't really see it as a problem. But I'll save my tokens for a couple of days to see how everything pans out... <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_wink.gif" border="0" />

totally not worth it save your tokens

I think what irratates me the most about this is the the Wiz has been giving so many junk items lately too. Item that I usually get from the vending machines. It takes a special kind of talent to only spend 150 on a quests and and still come up with a loss. (:

I'd be inclined to use the ocean depths crane because I want that sword. I like getting all that stuff from the cranes because a lot of the time, you get something that is worth three times the amount of those four tokens you just spent to get that item. This is how I usually gain my sp... all that cra.great stuff I get from the cranes, throw them in my shop!
User not found:
Well, guess I'm done with them now ... i end up with too much crap to waste double the tokens, may as well sell them and just go out and buy the things I might've lucked into. Mostly I did it because it was fun, if just a tad wreckless (and that was at 2 tokens per pull) 4 is just nuts. So I'll opt out for now thanks ...<br />

yerancek people can't help saying how they feel about things - especially if they're worried how it will effect them - but I agree that Keith is always looking at how ideas are working out and tweaking them so that they are the best for everyone. I'm confident the changes going on will be beneficial for the site by the time they are permanent. This isnt like some sites where the anonymous owners make changes when they feel like it. Keith cares about us and the site so I'm going to wait to see how it goes.

what I'm wondering is when you play the cranes, do you get more rare items? I wonder how this balances out tokens/prizes. I'm sure nobody knows exactly how better/worse the payoff is yet, but with twice the amount of tokens, I'd figure a better more rare item, or a few more than normal.... or if that's the case at all.<br />
Oh well, I'll see how this goes. I know that things are being 'tweaked' around here, lets hope the token increase won't be permanent.

4 tokens?!?! NOOOOO!!!! coughjippedcough

My goodness people havent you read what Keith has said. He is looking at how this effects us all so he might tweek it in a few days/weeks if its not working out. Moaning on here and crying about ur losses arent going to make things better. Voice your opinion and get on with your playing. We all have mixed feelings about this and if you dont like to vend now because of this then dont... no one if forcing you to. Im sure you can find a new way to make your points <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" />
If the number of a rare item is increased in any vending machine - more people will get it and it's value will go down. So it will cost twice as much to vend for an item that is worth less than it used to be.<br />
<br />
Yes, you can get 400- 500 tokens from the wiz in one set of quests and you can get them by giving him mostly items which are worth well under 20k (on a good day). 500 tokens got you 250 turns on a VM. Not a bad "gamble" for the cost of getting the wizards' items.<br />
<br />
Since the vending machine now costs more to use people will want to "pay" as little as possible for tokens. So they'll give up on quests which are too expensive more easily - and end up with less tokens at the end of it.<br />
Prices will go up - starting from the lowest priced items (they're the ones people will want) and so more item requests from the wiz will be more expensive than the value of the token he gives or the value of the prizes they are likely to get in any vending machine.<br />
500 tokens now only gets you 125 turns on a vending machine - possibly no longer worth the cost of doing a quest.<br />
A lot of people buy from shops, do wizard quests, use the vending machines all with the aim of getting items they couldnt afford usually.<br />
Even those people who make money by restocking rely on people doing quests to buy most of the items they've restocked - wearables, galleries and treasure chests must make up a smaller amount<br />
These are the basic daily economic activities which keep the site active I would have thought and need to be preserved.<br />
Maybe if we understood exactly what's wrong with the Subetan economy at the moment - could someone explain?

You're cutting off your nose to spite your face. This plan will not work! Honestly, you'd sacrifice the real cash that people spend on GA medals to increase their daily quests by 10, to try and bring the vending company out of the red? That seems to be the message you're sending. Here's my thoughts, I will not not spend anymore cash on GA medals, or anything (on Subeta) for that matter, until some steps are taken to actually improve the site. And, increasing prices on the vending machines is definitely not a step in the right direction. I know I'm not the only one feeling this way; what a horrible decision!!!
I already either break even or lose sps on those machines...guess I'm another person who won't be going there anymore. <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_raspberry.gif" border="0" />

mka, so I guess Im done with the vending machines...back to actually rsing. xD
you want things to stop deflateing. put out more Sp. people who have money in excess usally want to spend more Sp not the other way around they want to hold onto their money if they feel squeezed. and when you increase the price of vending less people will want to buy or use tokens. your hurting things all around people dont vend shops dont have items and quests dont get done quests dont get done tokens dont make it back out into the system then prices go up. just watch for a week im not vending at all im gonna stand back and watch the havoc and laugh as the economy destroys itself. your going the wrong way with this to keep a economy running you dont make it worth less to stock a shop then you make. - just my thoughts nothing more -
Forget that.<br />
<br />
I'll sell those suckers instead. <img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" />

I'll throw in my 2cents. The Ocean's Depths was verging on useless since the Subeautique items were removed. The vast majority of the stuff I got from there was worth less thank other machines (probably because of the number of people vending there), the only reason I go there is to catch up on new items, and the odd rare that it spits out. <br />
<br />
Hahaha, I found out about the change the hard way. I didn't read the news! Anyway, it's pretty much not for me, now. I'll try it again in a few days, and see if you follow through on the follow through (which you actually usually do, which is why I'll check it out.)<br />

I think they will be red again this year too....Most of us are going to stop vending, Including me.....absolutely horrible<img src="http://images.subeta.org/smilies/6398_emoticon_sigh.gif" border="0" />

I understand some people are upset with the change. I am not a big vender, only going to the vending machines ocassionally, but I understand when most the things are worth under 1000sp. What I don't understand is the math some people are using. I get most of my tokens from the wiz. I usually pay under 10K and many times under 1K sp for a 15-10 point token. I just finished wiz for today making about 500 tokens for less than 35K spent. Even at the new rate of 4 tokens if I were to vend them that's 105 items which to make a profit need a combined value of 35K or higher...to me it would probably still be profitable.
Vending is the one thing i love most about this site other than the artwork. Now its wrecked for me.

Haha oh wow. I just tried to vend. First time I lost money doing so :/<br />
<br />
May I suggest you cut down the number of tokens for OD because it already costs millions to get to and would be a reward for completing the map? c:<br />
<br />
Or could you increase the rarity of items you receive whilst vending so us venders don't fail at subeta?

I also tested a machine (OD) (obviously it will take time for the value to go back up), but after spending a 20 point wizard token, the combined value of the 5 items was 9499sP....another problem may also arise that if items go up too much in value, it may become too expensive to complete wizard quests.

Economically, 4 tokens is probably bad for the company. I know that 4 tokens is too much for me, so I will probabalyrarly use it now. Before I would use a good many every once in a while.
I agree with Windsong. A cap on the number of tokens a player could use per day is a good alternative to doubling the price of using them.
If the prizes are worth less than the price of 4 tolkens then no one will want to do them. They will lose money on them. If you are not going to make any money on doing them why do them?
Well, THAT'S stupid.<br />
<br />
A raise in price like that is, as other people have said, just going to stunt vending dramatically. As is the apparent pull of Subeutique items from OD.<br />
<br />
I used to vend only once in a while, but I'm sure as hell not going to anymore. xD; I don't even see what good it does for the economy, really. It may cut the numbers of junk pumping into the markets, but. :|<br />
<br />
If you're going to raise the price, at least add more good items so that it balances out. Less people would probably complain, then. Such as myself. 8D

I can see how this could be good for the economy here, but I think I'll hold out on vending, and RS instead until I'm certain I'll still be able to make a profit from the machines.
I get so many things of little value from the vending machine that it won't be in my interest to use them. Please don't go down the track of the other place where you have to scrimp and save for everything.

This seems hardly the best time to see if people stop vending. Lots of people are still trying to get the new releases and re-releases from vending. Wouldn't it be better to do a trial at a more average time of year?
It seems to me if sells are bad they should lower prices not raise them. And they should put more rare things in them including Subeutique and more riptides. Make people want to use them. Not take out the good stuff and raise prices. No one will want to use them.

OD became just like the others after the Subeutique stuff was taken out. So what if there is a 1 in a trillion chance you get a Riptide? Once the SB items left it wasa total waste...<br />
<br />
So people who don't have access to OD aren't missing anything
<br />
So people who don't have access to OD aren't missing anything

Well...now I won't be using my tokens on Dragons Hoard or Prize Get anymore. It used to be a fun way to entertain myself when RSing wasnt paying off. However, at four tokens per play, it's a loss. Especially since I don't have access to the OD vending machine. <br />
<br />
It looks like the machines will be making less money than ever now, as I know most people feel the same way I do. What a bad decision....

As someone who swapped to this site from Neo because everything was so expansive there it took months to save enough points to get anything rare, i am very disappointed with this decision. People come to the site for fun, not to stress out trying to get something rare to make you HA more interesting.<br />
This will only make owner shops more expansive.<br />
Gees there goes another site to the mighty dollar.

I don't mind the increase, even as a hard core vending Machine user... But I DID mind that OD, the machine that was supposed to be kinda cool and rare (since you need the map to get there) Basically became worthless after Subeutique items stopped getting vended, I mean, I didn't get them very often, but it made it worth my while.

THATS CHEAP! I'm not vending anymore. The vending machine i go to usually got me stuff worth 200k +. EVIL!!!!!!!

The vending machines had never proven worth it to me at 2 tokens but I kept trying hoping for something big, I don't think I will much anymore though.
