Thanks to your feedback, the hipposaru has been revamped and will be known as the hipottu from now on. Although subtle, this change was made to avoid associating it so closely with foreign creatures from other planets. ;)
We'll be updating items around the site today to reflect this change.

the new look is wonderful, and very appealing,
however, the name change is disappointing, hipottu just seems... similar to hipposaru. i understand that kiboko was not ideal, but i still think that by naming it hipottu, it is effectively making it still seem related to the hippo's of the real world.

can someone explain to me the "foreign creatures from other planets" thing? I thought and thought, and cannot come up with a similar sounding name. (Maybe my mind's too distracted with being cold to think)
Also, I'm happy with the new version of the revamp. The old revamp had weird ears, too-small of wings and a really weird darker back..
The larger wings, thinner ears and a back that matches the rest of its body looks much nicer.

I kinda wish they'd gone with the chibi wings, but I really like the revamp. Still my favorite pet species fo'sho.

Still don't like the skin lesions, but I'm glad the artist listened to our critiques. This looks 10x better than the proposed one.

Great job to the artist! I'm glad you really took in our suggestions. Those minor changes really helped! I'm glad the dark, "turtle shell" marking is gone now... lol. The ear change and addition of the nostrils really brought out the Hippotu's inner hippo. :3
@stijin: Geeze, you're being immature for your age. Subeta's artists work hard on these pets. And they're the only ones that I know of who take the community's suggestions. Can't you have a little more respect for their hard work?

This looks much better then the original revamp idea but I'm still not a big fan. It's cute but I wouldn't want to own one. All the same, the drawing is wonderful as is the coloring. <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_smile.gif" border="0" /> Whoever drew this did a good job, much better then the hipposaru. Hehe.

Looks MUCH better, glad to see that all my issues with the first attempt were fixed (except for the head markings, still think they make the head look too busy, though they were so popular, I knew I was losing that fight). The art is beautiful, and this revamp is certainly a step up from the "test" revamp, but I'm just not a fan. It lacks the spirit of the older versions, and it looks more like a dinosaur than any sort of hippo.

We were looking for suggestions, which we got and considered. If you had been reading that whole thread, you would have seen that the suggested name "kiboko" although cute was merely another name for a hippopotamus and had too much similarity to "popoko" besides. It was rejected for these reasons.

The Antlephore has been revamped actually pretty recently.. and they just got some revamps on colors. I doubt they'll be changed anytime soon.

Love the name. I don't like the redraw as much, but the Marsh coloring makes it look pretty good.
