Magic Box Closed
Ah, hello everyone. Greetings are as good a place to start as any, aren't they? But I'm far too busy to linger on them, so let's move right along.
A friend of mine--I'm sure you know him, he's that lad from the Magic Box, always has fairies fluttering about--has decided to up and move to the Vetan mountains. Something about being tired of the hustle and the bustle and wanting to own an adorable cabin. I zoned out after a while, truth be told. So he's gone now, meditating and feeding antlephore and probably searching for new fairies, and the Magic Box has closed its doors.
I was left to deal with all his old stock because I'm such a great friend with so much free time. I've got all the damn boxes sorted, and those of you in need of elixirs and potions can find them at my very own apothecary. The plushies have all been sent to Zuzu, whereas Tobias will handle all the magical toy-like things. Mauve took the clothes, because of course he did, while Rose took any accessories and if you're looking for the weapons, you'd best head over to the Weapons Warehouse.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to get back to brewing my own potions.

This is sure going to make getting boosters from the mystery box when AA is the chosen shop a lot harder.
With all these shop closings, the vending machines feel pretty unbalanced. I don't mind this change but can we juggle around the vending machine shops they pull from a bit? Would like to have one with the stickers and stuff.
Maybe we'll see the retiree sharing some calming thoughts over at Oatmeal's field!

I don't want to sound like a broken record, or ungrateful, or whatever.
But don't you think it should be pretty important to fix the existing features on the site that are broken, and are constantly glitching?
Like the shoutbox and wardrobe, for example?
New features are awesome, and change is great. But I feel like existing features working is a whole lot better.

So how will this affect Burning Chance? Now it will only stock from the Apothecary. Is it going to get another shop added to its pool, or is just going to get scrapped completely?

It's closed, but you can still purchase from it apparently.
Elixirs still show up in the shop search as Magic Box and you can still purchase it through there... Hm

I've not seen a single potion since this change at Lukien's apothecary and I've checked constantly.
I'm so glad I happened to save all the shopkeeper artwork awhile back. I'd hate to lose the Defend and Conquer guy next.

OK, well I rarely ever visited the magic box anyway so it's fine by me, at least with the stuff being moved to the other shops

At first the news post worried me but I'm glad that everything is still stocking. c: I'm super happy about unretirements too.

I really like this change. It's odd seeing the items in different shops, but I'll get used to it.
I think the prices of some of the items should change, though, to reflect the shops that they're in now. Especially the clothes and accessories.
Also, where were the Telenine tails and fangs moved to?

So I'm a little sad. Magic Box was THE place I made sp when I first started here and I did that for quite a while. Then the shop was reformatted and it wasn't profitable anymore so I had to stop restocking at it. (Still haven't found a good replacement.) And now it's gone. Farewell.
For a minute there I thought it was the mystery box. Lol. I'm good with this change. If other shops were to close I hope you disburse the wares to other shops if you were to do this again. I didn't visit that shop too often.
Eeeeee my fave shop keeper gets more stock. Seriously, they've had the best design so I'm so glad Lukien got a name and more stock. Now you guys need to make more content for his shop! :D

As always with changes, some parties need to calm down...really. It's not the end of the world, especially as seeing they put the stuff into other shops, changing a redundancy. I am MORE likely to RS elixirs, potions, and such now that I don't have to go to two different shops for my RS needs for that. As for them not telling us....uhm..it's their site, and they make changes as they see fit, and DO give a heads up on one's that they think are important enough to give a warning on or will actually affect certain values/item costs/CSC purchases etc. Also the same with changes that acceft HOW something is playe/used/etc.so...I have no issue with them just closing it. Thanks to the staff as always.
Sometimes, I don't really like changes like these but this is fully understandable.

Saw the headline, thought, "What!?" Read the news, "Oh, I'm actually totally okay with this." The reasoning makes sense, we do still have a decent handful of other shops, and the items are still stocking. Woo!

@BoaConstrictor It's not surprising, a lot of people are looking at that shop because of the news. I've seen elixirs already restock there, so I know it's working.
Is Lukien positive he remembered to unpack his own boxes? Actually his shop is emptier than ever now...

@introvert because they were bought quick -- while i was moving items over, some restocked there and they would be gone like in a few seconds :x

Seriously, when I mentioned it to Amber a couple months ago, I was hoping elixirs would have been included in a Decanter revamp, but hey, her solution to fuse both shops pleased me a lot too

I loved RSing at the Magic Box, but since the stock was moved to other shops this makes sense to me. Two shops that stock similar items (Magic Box and Apothecary) is a little redundant. I'm also glad no other shops are on the chopping block though. :)
For those saying we should get to know our shop keepers better, I point to my old Shops Street Fair idea

I thought it was the Mystery Box at first and thought "why aren't people complaining about the achievements and stuff?"
At first I was really excited because I thought the elixirs and potions were going to go somewhere to become a permanent stocked sP sink xD!
But this is a good logical change that makes a lot of sense.
Especially the part about going into the mountains to look for fairies. HERE'S TO HOPING ONE DAY THAT A FAERIE BASED COLOR HAPPENS AND THIS IS A PRELUDE TO ITbecause no neopets didn't do faeries, they did tinkerbells, and faeries are cool/badass/mean and would be a really awesome color and anyone who thinks otherwise hasn't looked passed tinkerbell/disney.

Seems like a pointless change to me, but it's really not a huge deal in the long haul. Only went to the Magic Box when Drills told me to, and would only get the cheapest thing. Always figured Lukien would be the one to close shop, smaller stock and whatnot.
Kind of has me worried about a couple of other shops, but as long as my beloved Carnival Stand goes nowhere, I'll be OK.

Not really sure if I like the idea of all the pet potions restocking at Apocalyptic Apothecary, because of the effect it will have on battlers trying to buy battle related potions. Although, I can kinda some of the reasoning here it doesn't really make a whole lot of sense to move a large volume of potions to a shop that previously only restocked a small volume of potions with more specific and different use. Battlers have already been complaining about how hard it has been to find boosters after all of the "updates" (nerfing) to quests giving boosters & such, so I can only imagine other battlers will be less than thrilled.
Totally fine with this - maybe it's hinting that these NPCs will get updates as well? Mauve and Rose seem to desperately need updates, though Zuzu and Tobias wouldn't hurt to spruce up as well. Looking at Zuzu's neck makes mine hurt.
The only reason I'm sad about this is because I was hoping that the Magic Box would someday post job listings in the Job Agency and I could have my pet Willow work there. Sad sad.

I am totally echoing the wife tobias in that we need some kind of NPC event to get to know them! It's kind of a shame to have all these cool characters and not know much about them! What is Lukien's favourite colour? Is he a cat or dog person? Does he provide secret items to the battle challengers? WHO KNOWS MAN

I was never really big on restocking potions, so not a big deal. I hope now maybe I can get ahold of some of those magiccal tapes. First I have to figure out where they have been moved to.

Oh my God! After reading the first sentence I also was shocked "waaaaa, more retired items!" lol
I was disgruntled by the shop closing but I'm okay now that I read that the stock was spread around to the other shops. I just hate it when shops close suddenly and the items retire (or are changed to be distributed in a non restocking way.)
I've always wondered why they didn't add the potions to the apothecary when that shop opened.

I actually really approve this change, I always thought it was pretty redundant to have the Apoc Apoth stocking like 10 items AND a Magic Shop - and it makes more sense for the magic items to not be in the middle of Centropolis so yeah.
..I actually like that change. That way I can restock boosters and elixirs/potions in ONE shop. o.o
