Spooky Chance Machine: New Items and a Free Spin if 2,000 Users are Online!

We\'ve added some more items to the Spooky Chance Machine to make it a bit more worthwhile. Don\'t want to take the risk? To spice things up, we\'ll be giving away a free spin if you keep busy during the remainder of Morostide!
Until October 31st, if there are 2,000 or more users online at once, those users online will get a free spin at the Spooky Chance Machine! This may happen multiple times before the deadline, but you\'ll only be able to earn this buff once. Remember, if you haven\'t already received it, you\'ll also get a special achievement for being online if we hit 2,000!
Note: The Baticus and Crowley items will have their transform option removed at the end of Morostide as well. Please make sure to transform them into the state you\'re happiest with before then, or you\'ll be stuck with it how it is!

When will the spooky chance machine be removed? It's a morostide themed thing, and I really hate how the Credit Gift Cards have since skyrocketed in price because of it.

I want to say thanks to Subeta for giving me the opportunity of a spin tonight as a random event: Woah, how cool. You earned a free go at the Spooky Chance Surprise! This free spin expires in one hour!
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much!

Something tells me we're not making it to 2k.. but who knows, we still have Thurs & Friday and depending on what everyone does on Halloween

lol, I never knew, the Saheric Headscarves were transformable!
Onto the original topic: Why do people, who once bought a transformable object for a higher price, need to spend even more (it's a "chnace" machine and hardly ever gives out sought after items) real money/CSC gambling to get 4 (!!!) other states of said item?! Just because you force them into choosing one type, when they originally bought and therefore are entitled to all of them? Free spins are nice of course, thank you for them, but they are random and the outcome remains random as well - maybe change the free spin to a free choice at least? Yet we probably are too far into the game now, to make that a fair option, but the decision is absolutely unfair to begin with - and I am not really affected (though I must say I adore the Crowley Quill eyes and I won a Crowley from my free 2k spin - even though I would have preferred a book - but there you go with stupid gambling stuff!)
I mean: Just look at the prices of said items in all stages!!! You really expect people to shell out THAT kind of sP for items they already legitimately own?! Granted 3/5 are usable items, but many don't even put plushies, stickers etc. into collections but enjoy those outside in Galleries or TCs.

:/ what on earth is the point of removing transformables? I go back and forth between a lot of mine pretty regularly. This just seems like a shady and cheap way to get more cash out of the user base. Not cool
I opened up a topic in the "Site feedback section": https://subeta.net/forums.php/read/843238
Maybe the issue will be discussed.

Urgh., I'm so upset by this I can hardly type, Fine to not sell transformable items moving forward, but don't rip us off by "fixing" the ones we already paid for.
P.S. I hate chance machines.
Quote:
nononononononono! this is breaking, not fixing!...Some items won't be fixed (the star projector comes to mind--the item was originally released too dark by mistake and we wanted to have both options available so we just made that transform between the two), but we'll end up fixing most of them eventually....
P.S. I hate chance machines.

I am definitely upset that items that were PURCHASED AS TRANSFORMABLE for the sole reason that we could change them to suit our need. We are basically getting ripped off of items that we paid for. All the Cat/dog collection items and transformable wigs I've spent csc to get BOTH! Don't take that away. I'ts not right to sell someone a set, then come along and say "oh, now you can only keep one item..., we're taking all the rest away from you". Not right at all.
I agree 100% with the people who already commented on the issue. Subeta´s users bought the items under the condition that the items are trasformable. I can imagine the price was partly set BECAUSE of the transform option. Taking this feature away would be cheating the owners out of their spent money. If users are too stupid or too lazy to check item prices its their problem if they get taken advantage of.
Removing the transform option would punish the wrong people, the people who keep the site running with their money.

Then let the items be used once to 'split' into all transformation versions. Yes, it's putting more value out into the site, but it's the only reasonable way when you guys sold it as "Only buy 1!" in the past, and are now taking that away for "A (low) chance to get the two others you like!".
Option goes away Nov 1st or w/e. It would still suck for those who don't log on in time (since again, no email/newsletter, ala RD points) but it's better than the current 'Hey screw you for using this feature of this item' for those who are on.

You know, I've even gotten ripped off by a transforming item once or twice, back when I was new. And I still don't want this change made.
Yeahhhh... this is really shady, ngl. I have no stake in the matter, but as someone who is a brand-new user that found SubetaLodge on my own, it's kind of insulting to say that people couldn't figure it out. I know some users can get taken advantage of, but this isn't a good solution either. And as someone that did use a monthly collection to redeem for a transforming item that I'll want to transform in the future, I'm a little miffed at the idea of that too.

If you guys remove the transform option from the 2011 monthly pets, I ... I don't even know what I'd do. I worked hard to get them all, I love them, and I transform them back and forth all the time. And I transform my Beaky and Squibly too into their different wardrobe items. Please don't do this. :( Just make it clearer that items transform in their hover or something so people don't get ripped off.

I think the most direct solution is simply to stop making new transformables if you are so concerned with users being ripped-off for being ignorant about transformable versions of items. Nevertheless, it seems like an overreaction to a possibility, and personally I believe the 'transformable' concept is what attracts many people to buy the item in the first place. Is it not better to have a whole new individual thread for people to wiki 'transformable items'?
Moreover , I second the opinion that the old items like the Baticus and Crowley (there are many more transformable items, I'm sure) should NOT lose their tranforming ability. It's a perk that people bought, and it should really stay that way - true to its product description.

I agree with Tribunal 300%. "Limited Edition transformables" makes a lot more sense. I had purchased nearly every single cash shop transformables for my collection because of its properties. Taking it away is really.. just.. cheating me of my hard earned money.
Please don't do this. :disappointed:

So why the $*%) do the items have to lose their transformation? Because you don't want the new ones going out at 100 CSC to be that 'valuable'? Because you want to bulk up the machine with all the versions? I -really- don't get it.
Also, the way more sensible thing that wouldn't screw older users (especially since transforming things in wardrobe has been announced as a planned feature - unless this has changed @Keith ?) would be to create duplicate items (perhaps Spooky Chance Edition: Crowley or Chance Crowley - or make the old items Limited Edition ______) that don't transform.
Or to you know, just put other low value items in the machine instead, and leave the minion version/wear version as a 'rare' chance. Could even get another color/asterisk/whatever to say "This item transforms!".

We should get organized and get the word out to everyone to log on at a specific time tomorrow afternoon or something.
Anyone want to step up and lead? :P

Sorry if I sound a bit peeved, I was trying to keep it more on the idea side than feels xD But Im sure some came out. It just sucks that this wasnt brought up in a forum and thrown on us when it has been a problem for a while with many feeling quite serious about wanting it the same.

But what about those users who bought them from the cs like me and wanted two items or more from it, and transform a ton after spending 250csc on it. I dont see how this is fair to them when now they are going to cost a lot less for some parts, but wears specifically will shoot up and be even harder to get.
If there were some way for those who own them and spent more to at least get a pick of a few I could see this. But really? This is just taking out another feature that those who cant afford to spend 600csc to get all they want not buying csc any more. It sucks that to buy the new minion items the stickers and things are cheap, then for one single hair or bg its 200-250 and you have to buy more than one thing.
I just hope you dont remove the transform feature from cs hairs :/ Otherwise I wont be buying any more. I get that some users buy a more expensive version, but really, if they wanted it enough why is that a big deal? The ones ripping others off suck, but even with silly moros items and all it happens. It should be the users choice to research items real prices, I always do if its something expensive. We have a price check forum even. The whole thing to take out transforming because a few people dont know about it sucks, I was super excited when keith said he was going to make items transformable in the wardrobe.
But eh whatever. Im not going to play chance to get the crowley I need now. Nor will I for other minions. Taking something with choice and turning it in to a chance where you can get a item not even worth the 100csc (two items arent even worth 500k) makes me pretty darn upset I bought the item in the first place.

So it's possible to get a free spin while TOT? I never knew that since I've never seen or gotten one. Maybe this year....

So instead of having it be confusing you're going to take away parts of items that people bought? And then pretend that's okay because you've made them available again so people can buy another one if they want to have the items that they originally paid for? Wow, yeah that makes perfect sense.
We're only removing the feature as we have a means to get the items out, we wouldn't just do it out of nowhere. These were pricy so we're fixing them while rereleasing. Some items won't be fixed (the star projector comes to mind--the item was originally released too dark by mistake and we wanted to have both options available so we just made that transform between the two), but we'll end up fixing most of them eventually. Same with the chance bags.
Making the transformables nontradable isn't really a thing we can do right now, and again, that's another confusing step that doesn't really need to happen. SL is an amazing resource but we're trying to be more clear moving forward. There's a lot of weird items that do weird stupid things that aren't marked clearly. Not cool!

I see we're starting to get close to the 2K, but I have to leave in an hour and won't be back until tonight. Darn. It figures.
I don't really understand the decision with the transformable items. I also don't really like it, as someone who has a Crowley. Since I mainly want it as the minion, but I might transform it if I need a certain wearable for some time.
I mean, if the transformed prices being sold at different prices is such a big problem... why don't you make the transformed items non-tradeable? Just allow the selling of only the base item, add a line of text to the description of the transformed versions ("This item was transformed from X") and problem solved.
Often enough the ability to transform an item is a HUGE reason for me to get it.

Kinda joining the crowd with the confusion on the transformables here. The base item is going to be cheap as heck and the items that transform out of that are going to be virtually impossible to get if you do this. Yes, users do buy an item they don't realize could be cheaper. But tbh, the majority of the site ALSO knows that the helpful sight subetalodge exists and this site is all you need to check to see if that item has a cheaper variation. Not to mention most users will let another person know if they are trying to buy an item that could be cheaper in a different form. I've seen it happen countless times in the SB and in the forums.
In the future, don't make transformable items for this kind of thing. But don't remove the option for those previously released as transformable, because certain variations are going to now be extremely hard to get and others are going to become virtually useless.

Free spins during Morostide? Hmm, I don't remember ever seeing that or getting one before. Would like to get one this year. :)

@momo_the_peachy There is a chance to get free spins during Morostide usually. :) The 2k users online thing is just a bonus chance, really.
@Evanesce
We've been moving away from transforming/chance type items for the last couple of years because of how confusing they can be. We've seen a fair amount of people ripping off users who don't realize that they can simply buy the cheaper version of a transforming item and swap it themselves. As for chance items, we still have some random elements (like the machines!) but we try to make them much more clear what's actually happening and the cost is much less. People open up chance items all the time expecting to get all of the items, and that's something we're trying to avoid! We started that years ago with the new way the monthly collection works.
It also lets us put items like those in for cheaper individually for people who only want one specific item, and it still ends up being cheaper if you need multiple copies of the item (for collections, wardrobe, etc.)

I figure the 2K mark will be hit during the only time I will be away from my computer this afternoon. But hopefully not.
I just spent like an hour writing a post for the forums that I decided not to post. I... I think I'm done here. I need to go on hiatus for a while, because after nine years of incessant positivity I think I've snapped. Straws and camels, blah blah blah.
I don't even care anymore.
I don't even care anymore.
To add to the voice of those complaining about transforming items: I will NEVER spend real money on a transforming item if you change the Batticus and Crowley items, because clearly you can't be trusted. EVER. Tbh, how dare you. STOP CHANGING THINGS PEOPLE LIKE AND SPEND REAL MONEY ON. I can't think of a way to demotivate your customers faster.
While I appreciate the idea of a morostide themed idea, I must say I'm a little disappointed with how only users who are online during the 2000 mark is hit get the free spin. I'm not sure if this mark has been hit yet, but doesn't it like, screw over the people who live in different time zones? A more fairer way of doing it would be to offer everyone a free spin once, but only if they have been trick or treating, and generally participating in morostide. Or you could offer up a buy 5, get one free deal. That way, it would give users a bigger incentive to spend $$ on a chance thing.

So glad I don't need anything that comes from the Machine as my chances of being online when 1,999 other people are online as well are super slim. But good luck everyone!

Great to see new stuff in there, but I am very disappointed re: the transformables, and I hope that this does not become a trend.
