Design a Shopkeeper!
A new design competition is here! Become a part of Subetan history by designing a new NPC for the Beanbag Shop! Long has this shop been devoid of a shopkeeper, and we believe it is finally time to change that - but first we want some user input as to who will take up the reins of the beanbag empire.
From now until 11:59 on July 31st you will have the chance to submit a design for a new beanbag shopkeeper, as well as some short backstory information. Once the submission portion of the competition ends, staff will go through the entries and pick out their 5 favorites which will then be voted on by the users to determine the ultimate winner. The winner will then have their design redrawn by one of the official staff artists, and will receive great glory! But also prizes in the form of 3,000 CSC, as well as a new themed beanbag set that will also stock in the beanbag shop. The four runner ups will receive a 500 Credit Gift Card and one beanbag from the set.

For some reason my brain decided that the perfect companion to this contest would be a full list of NPCs with a description of how they look, more or less.

I just spent a good deal of time making a backstory, and making a visual representation. Giving him connections to other NPCs and a personality.

hmmmm i really want to enter this and i have a strong concept but i fear my drawing skills just won't shine through even though you say it doesn't have to be a polished drawing :/ i'm giving it a shot, at least.

I entered but it was hand-drawn and I used a scanning app on my phone but it still looks like a photo, is that a problem?

Also...it would have been cool to be able to create a design using the wardrobe. For those of us with -5000 art skills.
I mean, yeah okay it'll be redrawn and you have to have a backstory, which is totally doable for pretty much anyone with basic writing skills, but at the same time, how many people are actually going to vote for an entry with a solid backstory and a crap drawing over someone with a great drawing and a decent backstory? My guess is not a lot.

Do you have a library anywhere near you? They usually have scanners that you can use!
Before I had access to a scanner, I would just take pictures in really good lighting of my drawings. It's not as great but it still works in a pinch!

Uh, question. What does it mean by "Current NPC Connection"? Does that mean it's associated with an existing NPC?

I'll just wait to see who comes up with the winning design for the shopkeeper as my artistic skills are complete and utter crap when it doesn't involve food.

OMG a shopkeep for my longtime fave shop?! :D I'm going to have to attempt at least -something- now. (I had drawn a fennec in a coat for mine positively eons ago).

Im pretty sure that the contest will be open to people who cant draw well, even a sketch on paper and then scanned or take a pic and upload it, as long as we can all get the gist of what it should be lol.
Actually, it looks like if you visit the "Locations" section of the Subetapedia, you can get the same sort of information about the different lands and people from that. For anyone who might be wondering ~

I think I might actually submit a drawing even though I'm not very good on a tablet. This is just too cool of an opportunity to pass up!
Great idea, but my art is not good enough to compete in a contest online but I do love this concept and I hope to see some great entries. I can't wait to see what everyone comes with soon too!! =)

oy vey, tfw I cannot draw humans or anthro to save my life. Alas, I will still make an attempt cause why not. It'll be fun to see everyone else's work too. Good to see competitions making a comeback, I've missed them. (psst can we have a costume or another pumpkin carving competition this year??)
