So yeah...Neugarten is here! Go eat food and buy stuff. I'm just glad to get out of the fast food kitchen for a week!

Ahhhhh loving Neugarten this year! I'm super impressed by the inclusivity with all the food choices people make and not putting anyone down. Love the farmer's market-y theme that's been going on this year.

All the new vegan yumz look sooo delicious (and pretty!) and the wearables are fantastic! I really love those new stickers too. Thank you artists, you really outdid yourselves.

@Galaxia So some stuff from Manwar is now restock able! Rah and I went through all the things from last year and moved them to the proper places! So the basic cooking ingredients from his stall last year, those are all in the Food Market. Later, I’ll add them to all the recipes at Fantine for vegan options. :)
@Bug Nah, you wouldn't need to eat the blobs themselves, just the slime off of them. You know, like they're snails or something, leaving little sludge trails? ;D Squeegee some of that stuff off (with some kind and soft pets), slop into a bucket, whip it into a small batch of ice cream, & it's probably delicious? though, that's not actually vegan either. oh well. :(
Maybe different colors have different tastes too; basic/black is like unsweetened & bitter coffee, dawn like strawberry banana, storm could be ozone, galactic would obviously taste like the feeling of gazing into the stars on a moonless, summers night & having the creeping realization that you're just an infinitesimally small speck on the broad scheme of things, and dark matter is, of course, just dark matter.

Gah, thank you so much for making it less aggressively vegan-themed. There was a /lot/ of shaming and discomfort last year, and it being more of a "sustainable, quality, small-town content" festival is a lot better. Because you can still absolutely have meat and dairy but still be thoughtful of the environment and animals!

Kind of grossed out the meat was brought back but guess that kind of had to happen after the freak out people had last year :/ but looking forward to the veggie/vegan items at least. going to go see them now <3

Goma ice cream (please no warnings I'm explaining this) is made with black sesame seeds and I've seen it in Japanese stores, so it could be nondairy goma ice cream.
Squid ink is definitely not vegan haha, but if the ice cream is specifically nondairy rather than vegan, it could still be squid ink. It is in Rumi's Vegan Life shop, so it probably isn't squid ink, but the name of the item is just "black nondairy ice cream".
A lot of dairy replacement products intended for people who can't tolerate casein or lactose are vegan, because that means more groups of people will buy them--but foods specifically intended for people who can't eat dairy for medical reasons are not necessarily vegan or pareve (this is a kosher term meaning no animal milk and no animal flesh products are in the food, so you can eat it with a kosher milk meal, a kosher meat meal, or a kosher vegan meal).
As I understand it, to be vegan, the ice cream would have to be made without sugar that was processed with bone char and also without honey. These are not things that allergic people tend to care about when their primary concern is that their food doesn't kill them or even just ruin their day.
