"Why add this when there are plenty of other ways to see what your friends are doing?"
I agree.. I dont understand why something like this was rolled out when there's a whole forum full of stuff people... actually want.

BAWWW!!1
Don't want friend requests? Turn them off.
Don't want to stalk other people? Don't use it.
Don't want to use Subeta as Facebook? DON'T.
Gosh.

Sometimes, those things make me feel like a stalker o.o
But, Subeta...
Really?
Come now, this was supposed to be a pet site; remember?

I guess after giving it some thought, it's no more different then checking a friends feed.
But I find it less stalkerish and more..pointless? P:
Also, pumpkins threw me off as well, kinda random xD

I love the people that constantly threaten to leave if "one more change" is made. And they never do. 8U
If you're gonna leave, leave. Buh-bye.
If you're gonna leave, leave. Buh-bye.
And I didn't mean I would outright quit I just meant that all these changes, if they keep going in the... update-my-status-whenever-i-do-something-tweet-tweet way then it would be something I personally didn't join for.

yeah I'm seeing a lot of contradictions within these posts. xD
This is too much like facebook. Why add this when there are plenty of other ways to see what your friends are doing?
Although I admire honesty, glad to know this is the same exact thing face book has.
WAY TO BE ORIGINAL GUYS

Great, another feature for Face--err, Subeta.
But even still, can't tell the difference.
If it weren't for the pet artists, I'd quit. They're the only reason why I stay here, because I was always under the impression this was supposed to be a virtual pet site.

Actually @paintz I believe that was a more recent change... Keith said he wanted subeta to be more of a social networking site in a keith answers. I do remember that aswell but it's just seeming like a bunch of facebook features being brought over here with, like I said before, pets and human avatars.
Kind of have to agree with peach, though I won't be leaving because of it (I still enjoy Subeta despite it.) Change is good for the most part, but I hope there won't be too much more of these facebook-esque changes.
Peach I'm pretty sure that Keith always described subeta as a "social networking site" opposed to a "pet site". I obviously could be wrong though :c
...doesn't change the fact that I still don't see the point of this though lol.
...doesn't change the fact that I still don't see the point of this though lol.
Actually I just want to say... subeta is turning into something much different then what it started out as. A lot of your users joined subeta because it was a petsite but now it seems that it's trying too hard to be a new facebook with "other" features like pets and human avatars. This is becoming enough reason for myself to quit, I didn't want to join a social networking site, I wanted to join a virtual pet website.
I hope this is the last of the social features but I have a feeling it's not even the beginning. Just my two cents.

Think of the time when some users go to other users profiles and look to see how long they posted so they can get a pet name or user name, that's not stalking? Yeah...you can see this on some profiles already so it doesn't really seem much new
tackles keith
Well, as long as its friends... Besides, I don't accept random friend requests anyway, so I should be safe from the "stalkers".

Well...this is sorta strange... 0-0 Why would you check posts? xD Plus don't friends usually ping their friends on forums? xD
Keith I just think this was sort of a useless addition. There are plenty of other things to work on, so why add this? xD;
There are many ways you can find information about a user just by going to their profile. This isn't much different, it's more 'consolidated'... And give them some credit, they're trying new things to keep the site interesting, and sometimes ideas don't come so easily.
This should've actually said:
"Have you ever really wanted to be a stalker? Well now you can with our brand spankin' new suggestion feature!"
Sort of pointless but at the same time rather informative. I can't complain since now the subeta gods have told me to be friends with some pretty spectacular people.

Okay, going to reply to a few concerns before my battery dies. Hopefully!

This looks a little bit too much Facebook though.

It is, however this allows you to see who your friends are friends with, and maybe find someone that you do know but haven't sent a request to yet. For example, I found two people that I talk to daily that I hadn't remembered to send a request to, and was able to do it via this interface.

I'm not really sure who gave you the idea that anything in the forums are private conversations. They are public, and anyone can browse to your forum. If you have a problem with your friends seeing that you've recently posted (which they'll only see if multiple of their friends are) on a topic, then you should remove people from your friends list.

I'm not sure why you'd return to facebook, when this is an exact feature that they have as well.

Beyond that, it doesn't show what friends are in groups, or what friends have posted on topics (though you could open it and see) the only time that it directly compares is in the event that you have friends in common with someone.

This is kind of funny, haha. This really.. really reminds me of facebook.
I just don't see why this features are necessary, though? I can't really see why someone would want to see all their friends activities. :/

Yeah and also Subeta =/= real life, and you're not that important to where you're gonna be stalked. Just sayin.
Subeta =/= serious business

If I wanted to be active on facebook, I would do facebook things THERE, not on Subeta. :c
I hope an option to turn this off comes out soon, it's just kind of creepy. It's not anyone's business what I do when I'm not talking to them.

Yeah I don't see how this is stalkerish or an invasion of privacy in the least, though I do think it's kind of a completely unnecessary addition. I won't be using it, personally.

First people whine and cry that Subeta's turning into Neopets. Now everyone's whining and crying that it's turning into Facebook. I dunno, Facebook is a pretty convenient and fun way to keep in touch with my friends. And I have lots of friends on Subeta. I like to keep in touch with them.
Hence the whole "social network" part of the site and everything.

You guys, this is a game site. Are you really THAT concerned about your "privacy" while playing a game? I can understand why people are always protesting Facebook, because hey.. that's your real name and face over here.
Your "identity" on Subeta, however, is NOT that important, sry2say. Also, a lot of the people complaining about being stalked- I've never seen you before. Somehow I don't think the rest of Subeta cares enough to stalk you.
The only issue I could see from this would be super well-known users getting a ton of new friend requests, which would be annoying. But that's all.

How is this stalkerish if you can view your friends posts, topics, and even read their comments? Plus it may be a way to make new friends here.
ohs, looks like there are people up in arms about this.
What's so scary or creepy about it? I don't see how your activity on a game site needs to be kept private. This is a game, not real life activities.
If someone wanted to really stalk someone, they could. It is easy to find and read what you post on this site, no matter where you post pretty much.

Turning into FB. I dunno, I guess it's kinda cool to see who you're not friends with that all your friends are (mostly it's just missed friend requests on my behalf and I do actually know them). On the other hand...FacebookFacebookFacebook...bad thing? I don't know.

OMG MY FRIENDS CAN SEE WHAT GROUPS I'VE JOINED I'M TOTALLY GONNA BE STALKED
I like this, it's interesting. I don't know why people think that they're so special that all their friends are gonna "STALK" them now hahaha. I doubt anyone will care THAT much.

I'm not sure I like this. To me it just feels like an invasion of privacy, though I suppose it's better that this is only among friends and that you can't 'stalk' people who aren't on your friends list. That would just be way too much. Makes me kind of glad I don't have many friends on my list.

;A; Ahaha I'm trying to avoid stalkerish websites like Facebook and Subeta is slowly becoming more and more like it.

And I'll just make a comment before my battery dies on privacy and how it applies to this.
If 10 of your friends are friends with someone, I think that it makes sense that you'd be able to see that. Maybe in the future we will make a way to "opt-out" of this, but I don't really think showing "friends of friends" is an invasion of privacy in the least.
Also, I think that it's not an invasion of privacy to show what boards your friends are posting on, as you could find that in the feed or just by looking at your friends "recent posts" history.
As far as I'm concerned, there isn't any privacy violation here or information that you can't get otherwise by just wandering around the site and looking a little harder.

And I thought stalking on Subeta couldn't get any easier. xD
Oh well, this is kind of a cool idea. It doesn't display any suggestions for me at all though, but I'm guessing they'll appear eventually. It'll be good for a lot of other users, I think~
(Or maybe I don't have enough friends for it to pull information from? xD)
