Old as the ages. When the darkness crept in, the light pushed it back but some of the darkness stayed..Like a stain it lingered.

And like a stain it spread, covering even the good, dousing the light, engulfing the pure, and corrupting the best of intentions.

They were called Angels, or Reapers, depending on who you asked. They were seldom seen and little is known of them except what the dead would say, or what those with near-death experiences did not. They were white, or black, or golden, or blue. They had wings that shone like moonlight, or feathers so dark they drank the shadows. They glowed or were misty ephemeral. No one could say for sure who was right or wrong.

But even the most holy and mystical of creatures is not immune to the lure of power and the touch of evil.

Dark rustling wings, red eyes, a laughter in the shadows. Cold fear as fangs brush your neck. Even the best can go bad.
