"My first tale to tell is of an adventurer by the name of Rutherford. I am sure you may have already heard of him since he loves to tell tales, but do you know where he came from? His origin story? Not many people do but I am privy to the most secret of secrets. Rutherford was born Clifford Winston Rutherford in the deserts outside of the Sacred Lands. He was born to a rich family who was vacationing there. His parents called him Clive for short. They were large species veterinarians by trade and that afforded them to travel extensively. They had been living in Shengui Guo for 10 years before Clive was born. They were studying the habits of the Zentu herds and trying to help the locals increase their numbers. After he was born, they decided to move to the Omen Islands to study the widlife of the region. They had friends over that found sutiable lodgings and a small office to work from and raise their only son.

Clive loved to wander even from a young age. From the moment he could walk, his parents had to keep a close eye on him. Once at the age of 5, he was found after 10 hours, in a tree conversing with some infant manchus. He tried to hang from his toes from a branch and fell into his mother's arms, as she was luckily passing. The young cub just giggled and ran off again. Before he could get far, he tripped over a branch--at least he thought it was a branch. He looked down at his injured paw and found the source of his pain. A glowing disc was sticking out of the dirt. Curiosity at least got the cat this time for he reached down to pry it from its earthy prison. It was covered in tiny pictographs and each one was glowing as bright as the lanterns his parents liked to hang outside his chambers at night. As soon as he made contact with the disc, he too began to glow. He could feel the language on the artifact flow into him, but then he began to feel light-headed. Trying to let go, he shook his hand to release the object. Unfortunately for him, it wasn't ready to leave his possession and he passed out.

Clive woke in his own room surrounded by his parents and a few doctors he knew from a local hospital. They all had the faces of those who had been worrying over a long period of time. His mother's face lighted up as he opened his eyes.
