She asked if she could talk to her about a few worries. The mother stopped the machine, pulled her daughter over to her lap and waited for her to begin the conversation.

On those night you kept me from sleeping, I would look at you and cry because you were so precious. I sat rocking you to sleep and you still mattered. You are my beloved.Momma, did you ever want to send me away because I was too difficult?
There were times when you would kick and scream because you did not understand your feelings and you could only communicate with noises. I pulled you close and kissed your forehead. You still mattered because you are my beloved.Did you ever wish that I was different?
To me, you are perfect the way you are. I will never dislike you if you feel a failure. I will always cherish every moment I spend with you. To me, you matter. You are my beloved.The mother looked down expecting more questions, but the little girl had fallen asleep as if lulled by the reassurance. The lightest of smiles touched her lips and she gently lifted the tiny tot and went to tuck her into bed.
Just as I have a sort of tribute pet to my husband, this is my tribute to my daughter, Zoey. In less than a year, she has turned our lives upside down (in a good way) and gives us a daily reminder to be happy. I hope that she never has the worries above, but I will make sure that she knows that she is loved and wanted.
