Outwardly, Xerphiel would seem like a cold and timid person; very mysterious. But in reality, he is not like that at all. Those who are close to him and know him very well knows that Xerphiel is actually quite a jubilant and unpredictable person. On some days he would act completely indifferent to everything around him, and then the next he would be out with his friends singing karaoke. He was sort of bipolar, but not really.
His parents had divorced when he was 18. He was left with his mother while his younger brother, Kazu, was left with his father. The divorce really didn't change much, other than him having to travel some distance to visit his brother. He respected his parents' decision and he held no grudge or spite against them.
Once he finished high school, he moved closer to the university that he had always planned to attend to. He got himself a pretty decent apartment. A few years later he found out that Kazu had moved out also and is sharing his apartment with Ralphe Hans in the city next to his. Since he is close by he visits them when he has time.
Xerphiel makes his income at a nearby community college. He teaches a chemistry lab course; only part time though since he has medical school to deal with too. He is an aspiring surgeon and is on his way to completing medical school only one more year. Unlike his younger brother, Xerphiel is actually quite fond of school. He likes the thrill of learning new things and putting that knowledge into some good use. I guess you could say that he's quite a scholar.
On his spare time, when he manages to get some between work, school and family, he would take some time to learn something new. It didn't matter what he learned, whether it be how to play a guitar, how to draw, how to make a steak dinner or even how to speak French, he would feel accomplished once he has fully mastered whatever it was that he was learning. It's no surprise that his apartment is filled with shelves of numerous different books.
It is a bit sad though, as he thought often that these books were his only true friends. The pages of black and white left him so happy and content, he was sure no other being could possibly provide as much as his books did. However, he does have a fair share of acquaintances and connections like a good student should have, but no one he could possibly call a close friend. But it doesn't matter. He doesn't feel lonely nor sad; he is fine with the way things are. Just fine.
