Waterfalls;

Please stick to the rivers and the lakes that you're used to

Waterfalls sat staring out the window at the retreating bodies of his Mother and oldest sibling, Echeyakee. It just wasn't fair! His rage at being forgotten built with every second. Echeyakee was the favorite, just because he was the oldest and strongest.

Edgar got to have the interesting job, read all the interesting books, while Waterfalls and others had to stay home. Echeyakee got to train and fight in the battle coliseum. But it just wasn't Echeyakee, everyone else had interesting stories or designs. Everyone else had beautiful colors while Waterfalls was just a Common Ontra. Life wasn't fair. Especially for the youngest in the family.

Mother liked everyone better. She had promised to get a minion and a potion for Waterfalls. Promised! But she had come home and got Echeyakee instead. Waterfalls angrily knocked stalked away from the window and flung himself on the sofa. He threw the remote to the TV away, and it clattered loudly on the new wood flooring. Just another reminder about how Mother prioritized everything over Waterfalls! Even the stupid floors! Waterfalls gave a dejected sigh and buried his head in the sofa pillows at the injustice of it all.

Ambient came sauntering in the living room, curious as to the crashing noise. He carefully considered his youngest sibling laying prostrate on the sofa as he chewed on his favorite spork. Mother had brought him a new one. He did love his sporks. Death Stinger rode silently on his head and stung Ambient; Ambient didn't notice being made of metal.

"What's wrong, short-stuff?" Ambient said, doing his best to simulate brotherly love and concern.

"She forgot my potion," Waterfalls confided in his big brother, despondently. "She promised she'd bring me a potion today. Everyone else has beautiful fur, but I'm stuck as a Common Ontra. I want to be Nuclear or Blacklight or anything other than Common!"

"I understand, she's been promising to change me to Blood-red for years now," Ambient lied. The conversation had never come up, but it was an excellent idea. In general Ambient didn't want to talk about color options to TwilightFox0. She tended to threaten Ambient with Chibi potions when she caught him up to...things. Ambient decided the fact he was still Common a gross oversight on the part of TwilightFox0. She was so thoughtless.

"Ah, she just left with Edgar, short stuff," Ambient purred, always happiest when causing discontent. "I'm sure she just forgot. I mean, with all the training Edgar does and those Omen Map peices she's been buying. Probably something for Edgar."

"It's always Edgar. It's not fair...if Edgar sneezes the wrong way, she'd rush off to get him a kleenex made from the finest llama hair!" Waterfalls yelled into the sofa pillows.

"Or silk," Ambient helpfully supplied.

"Or silk," Waterfalls sullenly agreed. "Plus everyone else has amazing stories and lookups. I'm just me. I don't have any amazing story."

"True," Ambient agreed, thoughtfully gazing at his chewed up spork. "Though I suppose somewhere there was a quote about writing your own story. Ah well, short stuffs. I'm sure being you is enough! I mean, who needs a story about treasure maps and daring places full of adventure. You should be content being you. Plus I'm sure TF0 will get you a potion soon enough. Just be patient."

Ambient patted his little brother on the shoulder and walked out of the room, content with a job well done. It'd take awhile, Waterfalls wasn't the brightest crayon in the box at the best of times, but especially dull when being so dramatic. It'd take a while, but Ambient was sure Waterfalls would get his interesting story one way or another.

Hydrus;

I know that you're gonna have it your way or nothing at all;

"What do you mean I'm bound to this Island?" Waterfalls said, stunned. "You promised you'd help me! You promised. I even went and got all those items for you."

"I did help you, fishling," Marena sang. "You definitely aren't Common anymore. Your story is with me now."

"No, it can't be," Waterfalls said, unconsciously taking a few steps back. He fell backwards, getting his new horns and fins tangled in some sea-weed.

"Child, you stole from your owner," Marena said with ice in her voice. "You stole the map peices and sP to get here all because your spoiled heart couldn't wait for another second to be special. Face it, even if you could leave, your master wouldn't want you anymore."

"NO!" Waterfalls yelled, his blue eyes flashed with a new rage. The rage scared Waterfalls even more. "No, you are wrong, she loved me."

"Loved you? Boy you stole from her. And now look at you, you have no where left but here. No one left, but me."

Tears welled up in Waterfalls eyes, as he fled from the Sea Witch's presences. His fins getting tangled in the sea weed by the jungle lagoon. It was dark, but he managed to make it back to the tavern he had seen earlier. His back feet caught the new fins on his forelegs, sending him rolling into a pile of garabge and empty bottles. Week old 'galley surprise' hung from his horns and fins as he started to pick the worst of the 'surprise' from his fur. Only to find he had cut his left forepaw on a broken bottle. The tears started to well in his eyes.

This wasn't what he had planned for at all. He was suppose to find the treasure and bring it home. Make Mother so proud of him. She would forget all about dumb Edgar and pay attention to him. He'd paint himself and show her...but all did was end up a monster in a stinking pile of trash.

The Sea Witch was right. Even if he could leave the isle, he couldn't go home. He was a monster. He had stolen from his family. He'd never see his mom, brothers, or sisters again. Waterfalls collasped in the rubbish. Crying in the living room sofa was a lifetime ago.

"You there, boy!"

Waterfalls looked up to see a rough looking pirate staggering in his direction. Waterfalls sunk into the rubbish, hoping the pirate was talking to someone else.

"Give me 500sP so I can get out of this cold," the drunk pirate yelled at Waterfalls.

"I don't have 500sP," Waterfalls stuttered, terrorified in the dark. "I spent the last of my money on items for Ma..."

"Don't be so stingy, you little son of a bitch," the pirate slurred, taking out a dagger of his belt. "Give me some money or I'll make some money off that mangy pelt of yours."

Utterly terrorified beyond reason, Waterfalls scrambled to his feet and took off to the forest, running as fast as his legs could carry him. His horns kept getting caught in vines, and he constantly tripped over tree roots and holes in the dark. He thought he heard a scream and a grunt behind him, but he kept running. It'd be foolish to look back.

Finally he found himself on a craggy shore. The waves beating the shoreline so hard Waterfalls couldn't swim away if he wanted to. He turned and looked back, his ears flattened against his head in dread of behing flayed alive. There was only quiet and darkness behind him. He collapsed by a boulder, shivering, trying with all his might to figure out what to do next.

Waterfalls froze. He heard noises coming his way, but he was too tired to run anymore. He had no home, no family, no worth. He might as well let the drunk skin him alive. At least his pelt would serve some good. Waterfalls shivered as he waited for Death to appear.

"Freaking A, Swifty, when I get back home, I'm going to dismantle Ambient and turn him into a tea-pot. We can drink tea from him every day."

Another crash and more obscenities rang though the coastline.

"Are you okay, Twilight? You broke that fall with your face..."

"I told you to bring a flashlight, Edgar! But nooo....you wanted to bring a lantern, it'd be more rustic, you said. Make the locals trust us, you said."

Waterfalls sat frozen against the rocks as he heard familiar voices arguing in the darkness. He could just make out the forms of Edgar, Swiftwind, and TwilightFox0. Fear of rejection and disappointment kept him rooted in spot.

Swiftwind caught sight of his brother and cleared his throat loudly, stopping the bickering TwilightFox0 and Edgar. TwilightFox0 and Edgar looked angrily at their other companion. Swifty jerked his head in the direction.

"Waterfalls," TwilightFox0 shrieked as she picked her way to the ontra. Waterfalls wanted nothing than to disappear in the dark. He shakily stood, gathering the last of his energy to try to run away again, when he was caught up in TwilightFox0's arms.

For the millionth time that day, Waterfalls started crying again. Sobbing into Twilightfox0's hair about everything. How he was sorry for being jealous of his siblings and Edgar, he was sorry he stole the map pieces and money, how he was sorry he couldn't go home.

After a while, TF0 set Waterfalls down and picked the worst of the garbage out of his new horns and looked at his cut paw.

"Ssshhh, now my little man," TF0 said wiping her own eyes. "Lets all make our way back to the tavern and get cleaned up. We'll figure out what to do later."

*One week later*

"What do you mean we're moving to the Omen Islands?!" Ambient shrieked. "My circuits can't taken the humidity! Or salt water! Or the rats!"

"Oh don't worry, Ambient, Clegg said he had a giant hamster ball just your size!" TwilightFox0 laughed as she moved the last box.
