Part Five

"I will fight for what's right."
"I will honor my people."
"I believe in myself."

The Kingdoms rode up on horseback to the gates of the Golden Kingdom. The gates were locked tightly. The kingdom, usually alive with sound and music, was silent.

King Nikel glanced at Queen Ammara, Her eyes had a shadow in them as she grieved for what her son had done to their kingdom.

"This way," she broke out of her daze. "There is an entrance south of here. It won't be locked."
The three of them charged forward towards the kingdom.

Once inside the gates, the guards were alerted.
"Intruders!"
King Nikel started to draw his sword, but Queen Ammara waved him back. "Allow me."
The people, still under the persuasion spell of Prince Rarsi, charged towards them in droves. Queen Ammara jumped off her horse to greet them.

"It is me, your queen!" She called to them. "I never left you. I am here to save you!"

"Liar!" A voice rang out. It was that of Prince Rarsi. He appeared at the front of the crowd of confused citizens, his face red with fury.
"Traitor!" Princess Leonia cut in, dismounting her horse. She charged forward to Rarsi. "You will pay for your transgressions against the kingdoms!"

"My son..." Queen Ammara said softly. "Why have you forsaken me?"

Prince Rarsi let out a bitter laugh. "You weak woman, don't you see? The Golden Kingdom could be so much more powerful without you. We could rule the world, but yet, you go off and assist the other kingdoms when they are in need. What about your own kingdom?"

King Nikel drew his sword. "You did this to my people!"

"Of course I did, you fool," Rarsi sneered. "To see how my predictable mother would react. I deserve to rule the kingdoms. Now, you will pay for your mistakes!"

Then the prince stomped his foot on the ground and the ground began to shake. The sky suddenly became very dark, and a strike of lightning shot down onto the kingdom.

Queen Ammara called out over the thunder in the sky. "You will not win this, Rarsi. Let my people go!"
Prince Rarsi's eyes were dark. He barked in a laugh. "What are you going to do about it? You cannot defeat me."

"I cannot defeat you," Queen Ammara grabbed the hands of King Nikel and Princess Leonia in either of hers. "But together, we can."
King Nikel's hand was cold. He was unsure of his strength, and he did not understand how he could defeat the young prince, so bloodthirsty and ruthless. He glanced over at the Princess next to him.
"You have to believe," she whispered. "Believe in yourself."

Queen Ammara's voice was louder than the thunder piercing the black, smoky sky. "Cast a circle of light to pierce this night-"
"Give up!" Rarsi roared. "You cannot win this!"
King Nikel shouted. "While my people sleep, let my spirit soar!"
Princess Leonia cried out. "Leave this kindom, the people free once more!"
The wind started to pick up, whirling around the people of the Kingdom. Queen Ammara clung to the hands of her kingdoms and shouted, "Break what holds these people's souls! With this spell, we're free once more!"

"No!" Rarsi screamed. The lightning struck once, twice, and three times behind him, and the royal kingdoms were blinded by the light. When they opened their eyes, Prince Rarsi was gone.

The sky began to lighten. The people all fell to their knees in waves. There were cries of relief and confusion, as they did not remember all that had happened. They were just thankful for their queen to be home.
King Nikel mounted his horse, his eyes glistening. "Well, I should be off. My people are waking up now." He smiled.
"Be safe," Queen Ammara returned his smile.
Princess Leonia mounted her horse next. "Welcome home."
Then, the two of them rode off into the horizon, back to their kingdoms.

Queen Ammara's people surrounded her in cheers. She was home again.
